Chapter 43-  Step by Step

It had been 2 weeks and Sarah was still having trouble gathering her strength.

She was seeing a physical therapist everyday and an actual therapist.

When Sarah had heard that I had to do community service she was extremely pissed. It took us some time to explain to her that what was done was done.

Needless to say, she's still pissed.

Apparently Sarah barely remembers the day she got into a fight. She remembers why she got into the fight and that's about it.

She said the girl came up to her asking her about Seth and based on how she looked she was exactly what Seth described as his stalker.

She automatically got protective because she knew that she made Seth extremely uncomfortable. So she told her to back off and to leave him alone.

Welp, the psycho didn't appreciate that so she pushed her and said "watch who you're talking to," and then Sarah punched her in the face and that's all she remembers.

I honestly don't know what got into her, she's usually level headed but I guess she couldn't help it.

I had been cleaning the auditorium when someone walked in. They looked older, but I've never seen them in the school so I didn't think it was a teacher. I stopped in my tracks and stared at them as the walked on the stage, not seeing me.

"Excuse me, the auditorium is closed, for everyone." I say and the man titled his head.

"I'm meeting someone." He said with a surprisingly deep voice.

His voice and tone made me me feel uneasy. It made me feel like he was telling me 'oh well, I'm here' and his voice alone made me know he didn't belong here.

I hadn't realized the scar on his face until now and it made me even more uneasy.

I leaned my broom against a seat and stood up straight. The man had ignored my presence now and was looking around backstage.

I slowly walked to my phone, which was on the edge of the stage and made my way to the door. I was going to call Ethan and ask him to stay in here with me until I saw him come from the opposite door.

I watched as he made his way to the stairs and I stared in disbelief as he struck muffled conversation with the man.

His eyes looked scared but his demeanor was strong. The man looked angry as he kept jamming his finger into Ethan's chest. I was lost for words. Was he still involved with those bad people?

As soon as I was about to leave the broom fell and both of them looked at me. I stared and watched as Ethans face turned into something I can't make out.

"Quiet down, we're handling business little girl." The man said and I frowned. Ethan just looked away and kept talking to the man.

I stormed out, not knowing what to say or do. Sometimes when I feel too much, I stop feeling anything at all.

I numbly walk to my car. I sit in it for about 20 minutes, knowing I'd eventually have to go back to the auditorium.

For those 20 minutes, it felt like the world ended. Like it was just me and a car and nothing else existed. I felt so detached.

I saw the man walk out the school building and I just felt a rush of anger. I  swung my car door open, jumped out, slammed it shut and literally ran into the school building.

I was ready to find Ethan and murder him.

I storm in the auditorium to see him standing by my cart of cleaning supplies.

I walk to him expecting to yell, instead I just started to hit him. I just kept punching and pushing his chest and then the water falls.

You all should know by now that I cry a lot.
So I'm just hitting and crying and he's just standing there. Letting me.

"Sammy.." he says and I hit him harder.

"DON'T! CALL! ME! THAT!" I yell while pounding his chest and sobbing.

How could he still be doing this? And he lied to me!

"Samantha please stop." He says and grabs my hands. I try to snatch away but I couldn't. Instead I just stood there heaving heavily and death glaring him.

"I hate you." I say coldly, and in that moment I really did. I hated him for breaking my trust. I thought we were so far from that. He was supposed to be good. He was never supposed to be the bad guy.

"Baby, you can't mean that, I can explain everything." He pleads and I finally successfully pulled away from him.

"You have no place to go so you can stay at my house, but stay away from me. I never want to talk to you again." I say and walk away.

"Samantha! Sammy! Please don't walk away right now." He says to my departing figure.

I'm getting tired of his shit. I've done nothing but be by his side throughout all this crazy bullshit, but all he does is lie.

"You always run!" He yells and it stops me in my tracks. I spin around and glare at him from afar.

   "You always lie!" I yell.

"Can we please talk?" He asks and I shake my head.

"Not right now, or I might just kill you." I say and leave out the door.

As I'm halfway down the hall, I realized I still had to clean.

I storm back into the auditorium.

"Get out." I say and he leaves. I sigh and pick up the broom, continuing to sweep.

I just popped in my AirPods, listened to sad music, cried, and cleaned.

   """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

"You what!?" Sarah yells at me.

"We broke up, and don't tell anyone! I'm only telling you." I say and Sarah face palms.

"Why?" She asks, sounding angry at me.

"I can't really say." I say and she rolls her eyes.

"Wait until I can walk, and I'm kicking your ass!" She yells and I sigh.

"Why kick my ass? Kick his ass!" I protest and she rolls her eyes once again.

"I expect The boy to act like an idiot, not you! You love him! He's your person! You guys are perfect for each other. I mean, I just don't get it." She says and I feel an overwhelming feeling of sadness.

I refuse to cry over him again. I've done enough of that. I do love him. I really do,but I can't keep getting lied to. Trusting him was everything to me.

"We were, but not anymore. Hey, you hungry? I can go get you something." I say changing the subject.

"Travis is on his way with some Panera, I'm good. You, need to talk to Ethan and work whatever your issue is out because I depend on you for nieces and nephews! Seth is hopeless and Steven is clearly going to be too busy with his 100 puppies he plans on owning." She says and I roll my eyes.

"I'll talk to him, but there will be nothing worked out. I'm putting my foot down. We're through!" I say.

"This will probably last a week and you'll be back in his arms." She says and I gasp.

   "No."

"Yes."

"No!"

"Yes!"

  "No!"

   "No!"

  "Yes!"

"Dammit! Bye!" I yell as I'm leaving the room and all I hear is Sarah laughing in victory.

  ...asshole.
