"Friends."

The next morning came around quickly. Peter woke up, oddly excited for school, and hopped out of bed. He grabbed a black tee, a green button up flannel, and some baby blue skinny jeans. He sprinted out of his room and into the kitchen, grabbing an apple. "G'morning uncle Steve!" He kissed him on the cheek. Steve chuckled. "Good morning champ. Why are you in such a rush? School starts in an hour." Peter shrugged and went to say his "good morning!"'s to the rest of his family, aka the team. He ate his apple, grabbed his backpack, put on his black and white checkered vans, and went off to get into the car.

"Morning uncle Happy!" Happy smiled back, and they got on the road on the way to school.

Thanking Happy, he stepped out of the car and went to greet his friends.

As he was walking through the hallways with Ned and MJ, he bumped into Flash, falling down on his butt. Flash noticed and held out a hand to help him. "You okay, Peter?" he groaned and took his hand, standing up. "Yeah. Sorry 'bout that." "Don't worry. See ya in chem!" "See ya!" They parted, and Peter walked to math class, his friends close behind him.

"Dude, was that Flash?" Ned asked, shocked. "Yep." "No way. Why's he so nice all of a sudden?" Peter explained to him what happened in the coffee shop, leaving him shell shocked.

"So... he's nice now?" Peter nodded. "...cool."

They entered their homeroom, sitting down next to each other. MJ had biology, so they only had classes together in their last period, which was art class.

Mr. Harrington walked in, ushering them all to their seats. "Did you tell him about, y'know?" Ned made a shooting webs motion. "Hey, don't do that here! And no, I didn't." "Hey, you two! Pay attention!" "Sorry Mr. Harrington." They said simultaneously.

Maths ended quickly, chemistry coming next. He walked into the room, and sat beside Flash. Ned had class with MJ, which was history. "Yo dude." Flash greeted. Peter grinned back.

Halfway through class, the teacher announced "We'll be doing a group project. I'll call out who's partners with who. Abe and Betty, Cindy and Jason, Michelle and Sally, Ned and Charles, Seymour and Liz, and Peter with Eugene." The two boys grinned at each other. "You may go to your partners and start working. The topic is heroes. Pic one, and search for information."

The students shuffled to get to their partners, chatter erupting a second later.

"So.. who'd you like to write about?" Peter asked. "I was thinking 'bout writing the essay about Spiderman." Flash replied. "Sure, cool. I know hi- I mean, I know lots 'bout him." Flash looked at him oddly but shrugged it off.

Class ended and Peter made his way to get out of the classroom. "Hey Peter?" Flash stopped him. "Yeah?" "Would you like to meet up for.. well... the essay?" He looked to the side bashfully. "Sure!" Peter beamed. "Mine or yours?" "Um.. yours." "Tonight at 5?" "Yeah." "Kay! See ya then!" Peter ran out waving goodbye, leaving a lovestruck Flash behind. Not that Peter would notice anyways.

He arrived home. "I'm back Aunt May!" She came out from the kitchen and pressed a kiss on his forehead. "How was school?" "It was great! Oh, and Flash is coming later around 5." "You mean like your bully?" "Oh um yeah. We're friends now." She sighed but smiled. "Well, have fun then." She made a mental note to give his "friend" a talk. Peter rushed to his room and flopped onto his bed, a large smile on his face.

Two hours later, Flash stood in front of the apartment. He rang the doorbell, and moments later, Peter came barreling down. His cheeks were flushed and a wide smile was displayed on his face. "Hey man!" "Yo." They entered the dirty hallway. "I'd not touch the handrail if I were you. They're pretty dirty." Flash immediately removed his hand. Flash stepped into the apartment. "Hello!" Came May's cheery voice. "Oh hello dear." Peter swore he could almost hear some sarcasm in the "dear".

"Hello, Mrs. Parker. I believe you're his mom?" He held a hand out to shake. May's face turned cold. "No... I'm not her mother. I'm his aunt. Peter's parents died as he was 7." They shook hands. "Oh. I'm sorry."

May waved her hand in a dismissing gesture.

"Don't worry, don't worry. It's in  the past now." She smiled pained. "Now off you go." She shooed them to Peter's room.

Peter flopped on his bed. "You wanna start with the essay?" He asked, snapping Flash out of his daze. "Yes?!" Peter chuckled and repeated what he said. Flash blushed and looked down.

They got some work done after a while. They hadn't noticed that the other had scooted each time a little closer. Now, they sat so close to each other that their hands almost touched. They intertwined hands. Peter looked up, feeling Flash's breath on his own. They leaned forward, and- "Hey guys! I brought snacks!" May barged in, holding a tray of sandwiches and orange juice. Both teens sprang apart, their faces flushed red. "Huh? Are you two alright?" May asked.

"Er- yeah." Peter grabbed the tray, thanked her and shut the door.

They sat in awkward silence. Peter grabbed a sandwich and munched on it, attempting to avoid the awkwardness.
