We're restructuring things a bit today, mostly because I'm in a peculiar mood and I don't very much care if you must suffer through anarchy for it.

I think a good place to start this time is with our Honourable Mentions:

Trickett has done a very peculiar thing, and I very much enjoyed the integration of this contest with one of the August Free Write prompts. It's an exceptionally interesting piece. It's published as a part of 'Three Beacons', a chapter called "Fight".

Canary_queen has produced an intriguing, terrifying work exploring the nature of Good and Evil, and I'm not certain how I feel about myself anymore. This story is super effective, really focusing on constructing very clear images and giving them very concrete meanings. Good work! Find it in 'Happier' as "Blow us All Away".

WriterWhizKid wrote a very fun montage of scenes which really worked towards making the images plot-relevant and succeeded. I really like the narrative voice, and it seems like this story has the potential to be an interesting little novella. Find it in 'Short Stories for Contests' as "Contest #57".

RoxyPuppyLove has a peculiar and unique outlook on the prompt. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it's very effective. Go find it in 'The Bored Book' as a chapter titled "The Loneliest Thing".

sorryhyungwon has consistently proven to be an incredible author, and the work put forth in 'Assertion and Dissolution' perpetuates that. I will never not love reading these stories. There is an excellent narrative authority, an excellent grip on the language, and it's just so pleasant to read. The images feel almost secondary to the plot, while simultaneously seeming like they sneakily make it. Go check it out, dudes.

Herald_of_hell has broken my heart with 'A Wilted Flower Called Eden' in Stories Assemble. No surprise really, she's been breaking my heart since the August Whodunit. This is a beautifulstory, and there is no other way I can express that. This is an art.

Before I declare my single winner - I'm mixing things up, for a limited time only! – I want to welcome all the new entrants and the returning entrants. It's been a while since I've seen some of you. Astrid_Krumholtz, I'm looking at you. I'm so glad you're back. CourageousPrincess18, it's been a real hot minute, hasn't it? Are you going to make me cry again? Please don't.

Overall, the work produced in this contest has far exceeded my expectations. I really should stop underestimating you all. While I can only mention so many entries at a time, I do encourage everybody to go back to Contest 57, scroll through the comments and check out the stories. You might understand how difficult this particular contest has been for me to judge, and why I'm only declaring one winner.

Speaking of which:

While there were stories perhaps better written, or perhaps more poignant or meaningful, I feel the honorary title should go to this entrant. She's made an excellent and unusual contribution to how we include and work with these special images in narratives, and from such an odd perspective:

"Sunflowers" by  in 'Wattpad Contest Entries' is my winner for no reason other than I am severely biased towards this particular story? I'm not really certain. It's one of the first ones I've read for this contest, and I remember it very clearly.

It's a children's story, ultimately, about witches and evil. It's a scary children's story. I think of Roald Dahl when I read it, and I like the simplicity of the narrative. The images really serve the story very well, and the story really gives the images a vivid and new meaning which develops as the story progresses.

I think this is an excellent execution of the prompt, and deserving of recognition.

It's so, so, so precocious, yet, so, so, so, peculiarly innocent.I haven't really seen anything like it recently, and I cannot accurately explain why I'm so taken with it.

Remind me sometime to revisit this one, will you?

With these words, I depart. And I thank you all for your lovely work. I'll see you on the flip-side (ha, I think that's very funny. I've been giggling for minute. Get it? Flip-side? Because you'll see me in the next chapter, and all you have to do is 'flip' the page. HA!)

TimberWoolf waz here.
