We are back!
The whodunit has finally come to a close, so we're going to carry right on with regular contests.
This week, we're going to do a challenge. We're going to try writing stories that contain at least five of the following, unrelated images:
- A tree falling over.
- A droplet of blood running down the wall.
- Dogs barking into the darkness.
- A flower blooming.
- A smiling woman dressed in blue.
- A song playing on repeat.
- Two birds in flight.
- Wind brushing against the curtains.
- A ladder against the wall, up to the roof.
- An out of order automatic door.
- A television that plays one clip on a loop.
- Headphones hanging from a pocket.
- A stack of barrels in a field.
- A bench next to a stream.
- Candy wrappers caught in a chain-link fence.
These images don't mean much on their own. Your job is to put them together in a coherent order to tell a striking story.
I'd like you to try focusing on a cohesive story structure, with an arc for your character, a progression from one tone to another, and to present a clear meaning or philosophy in your narrative.
There is no word requirement, and entries will be judged on the clarity of the writing and how well they worked with the images.
Due date is 8th of September.
