NOPI 48: Happy Birthday, Charles!

NOPI Chapter 48

Charles' POV

"Wherever the wind blows, I'm right there

Nang matapos na siya ay bumugtong hininga na ako't tumakbo na kaagad ako sakanya saka siya niyakap.

"Ah! Charles naman! Puwede bang patayuin mo muna ako?" tanong niya pero hindi ko siya binitawan

"Is this a surprise? I'ts.. it's amazing. I'm so surprised. I'm so happy" tuloy tuloy kong sabi

"You think this is my surprise? No, how about you turn around for a second?" tanong niya kaya naman binitawan ko na siya saka tinignan sa mga mata niya

Nang makita ko 'yung ngiti niya ay tinulungan ko na siyang tumayo saka tumalikod para makita 'yung surprise na sinasabi niya.

Napangiti na ako kaagad nang makita ko ang decorations together with a splendidly styled bouquet of blue roses, an amazingly made cake on top of a peach colored box and well, a letter.

May napakalaking sign na 'Happy 21st Birthday' at ang main color ng design ang blue, which is my favorite color. It was all something that Sephine prepared for me.. It really warmed my heart.

Hinila ko na si Sephine papalapit sa mga 'yon. Nang makarating na ako't makita ang mga 'yon ng harap harapan ay kumunot ang noo ko sa pagtataka.

Hinarap ko na si Sephine na nagpipigil ng tawa niya.

"You.. Kuya Joseph.. The picture.. I'm sure he was giving you this.. Wait.. What?" putol putol kong sabi sakanya kaya naman natawa siya

"Well, Ed tricked you. He planned on using Kuya Joseph to get you all fired up to see me. Seeing how you almost broke the door with your kick, I think he's wearing a victory grin now" smug niyang sagot kaya naman nainis ako

What the hell! I'll kill that guy! Doesn't he know that that's very dangerous! I almost tripped while running earlier for so many times!

*sigh. I can't believe I fell for such a plan created by Ed. Tsk. Not to mention that I fell so hard that now when I think of how I reacted, I feel embarrassed all of a sudden.

But still!

"Fck, I was worried you'd be taken away from me! I haven't seen you for so many days you know! I've been worried, okay?! He's a Falcon! He's the number one bachelor in the country everyone wants to marry! Of course I'd have my share of insecurities! My wife would be taken away from me if I didn--" natahimik ako ng biglang magtiptoe si Sephine at hinalikan ako

"Charles, alam mo bang namimiss ko na yung masungit mong side? Bakit ba napakadaldal mo na lately?" tanong niya kaya naman napanganga na ako

It was just a simple smack on the lips but still how could she do this to me?! This is obviously an ambush, an attack!

My heart couldn't possibly take all of this attacks from one second to another!

"I.. I.. You.."

"I what?" pangaasar niya kaya naman natahimik ako ng ilang segundo at natawa nalang saka ko ulit siya niyakap at niyakap niya rin naman ako pabalik

"This is a new lesson to me, ma'am. I actually thought that only guys can use that kissing trick to shut girls up?" tanong ko kaya naman natawa siya

"I only knew now that it works well with guys as well," sagot niya kaya naman nakitawa nalang ako

"You said your wife would be taken away from you just now, right? Kailan ka ba ikinasal, Charles?" tanong niya

"Uhh, wel-"

"Haha. I like it. Thank you," singit niya kaya naman napangiti nalang ako

Kahit na lumipas na ang ilang minuto ay nanatili lang kaming magkayakap ng tahimik.

Ah. So warm, so soft and so comfortable. Now this is what I call my very own safety haven.

I closed my eyes and kissed her hair. She smells like strawberry.

"I missed you" bulong ko dahilan kung bakit mas sumikip ang pagkakayakap niya sa akin

"I was injured. I'm sorry I could only tell you this now" sagot niya kaya naman tumango na ako

"I know. How are you now?"

"I'm back to normal. Haha. I planned on making you wait on purpose"

"Haha. I know. I just found out. Were you having fun torturing me?" tanong ko pero nagtaka ako dahil umiling siya

"I missed you and I'm still missing you. For some reason, this plan made me torture us both. I certainly won't do it again. I promise" sagot niya kaya naman binuhat ko siya habang yakap yakap parin saka inikot

Napasigaw siya pero tumatawa tawa rin naman after ng ilang ikot.

"Ah, hindi ko alam pero kinikilig din pala talaga ang mga lalaki ano?" tanong ko at bumitaw na sa pagkakayakap sakanya pero inintertwine ko ang mga daliri namin

"Ewan ko sayo. Kinikilig ka na sa lagay na 'yan?" tanong niya pero hindi ko na siya sinagot at tinignan na 'yung surprise niya para sa akin

"Why did you plan all this? Makita lang naman kita ay sapat na. Sa tabi ko, kausap ko at kasama, okay na 'yon. I really couldn't ask for more. I'm selfish like that" sabi ko dahilan kung bakit namula nanaman ang mga pisngi niya

Hahaha. Cute.

"I believe that even guys deserved to be given surprises too, not just the girls. And besides, this is a very special day for you. Happy Birthday, Charles Anthony Begley" sagot niya kaya naman napangiti na ako

Sorry guys, this girl is mine. Good luck at finding someone as good as her. *Insert victory laugh

"I love you, Seph" bulong ko saka ko siya nginitian kaya naman napangiti din siya

"I l---"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLES!" pagkarinig ko palang ng mga sigaw nila na nagpahinto kay Sephine para sagutin ako ay napapikit na ako kaagad para huminahon at para hindi pumutok sa galit

Napansin ata ni Sephine ang inis ko dahilan kung bakit siya natawa kaya naman minulat ko na ang mga mata ko't sinamaan sila ng tingin.

"WOW! WAY TO RUIN THE ATMOSPHERE! GREAT TIMING! REALLY!"
