I walk along the lantern lit path with Gavin's fingers intertwined with mine. Flower petals line the cobblestone path. The stars glisten and sparkle against the inky black of the sky.

"Is this all for me?"

"I wanted to do more, but I knew you would consider this overboard enough."

He's 100% right. This is overboard and it's making my anxiety creep up. Is he going to do it tonight?

"Why though? Just as another nice gesture before the baby arrives? We have at least six more months."

"Six months will fly by in the blink of an eye. I want to capture every moment possible with you now. We wasted years apart, Skye. I don't want to waste a second more."

My stomach churns angrily. Dinner and dessert claw at my throat, threatening to make a reappearance. He's going to do it. I'm so nervous.

We finally reach the end of our journey. A little gazebo with streamers scalloped around the exterior sits patiently, awaiting our arrival.

Gavin lets me enter the gazebo first.

"Look at this view!"

The night sky is reflected in the rippling water of the lake in front of me. It's mesmerizing and magical.

"Do you like it?"

Gavin's arms wrap around my waist. I turn my head to kiss him briefly.

"I love it. It's perfect. Thank you, Gavin."

I look back out to the lake and his arms drop from around me.

"You are perfect, Skye."

Oh no.

"You are everything I could ever ask for and more. You are the sun to my moon. I love you, Skye."

I slowly turn around, my stomach bubbling fiercely. Gavin is standing with his hands behind his back.

"I've known this from the first second I laid eyes on you, Skye. I love you and I will never stop. I only have one question."

And he does it. He lowers himself down to one knee, pulling a small box out from behind his back.

"Will you marry me?"
