I tuck Brayden in after reading him Goodnight, Moon. Just as I am about to turn off his light, he asks me a question.
"Auntie Skye, do you love Uncle Gavin?"
I'm completely caught off-guard by this question. Do I? Do I love Gavin?
"You know what, Brayden? I think I do love Uncle Gavin."
He smiles, hugging his stuffed dinosaur.
"Are you going to get married and have babies?"
I laugh at his statement. He's a cutie.
"Not right now, no. Maybe later."
"Do you want babies?"
His question hits me a little too hard. I lean down and kiss his forehead.
"It's your bedtime, Mr. Silly Pants."
I tickle his sides, making him burst out in laughter.
"Alright. Last time. Goodnight, Brayden."
"Goodnight, Auntie Skye!"
I stand up, walking to his bedroom door. Before I close the door, I take one last glance at him. His sleepy little figure is tucked in under several blankets. I smile, pulling the oak wood door shut quietly.
