"Freeze! Hands up!"

My father delivers one more kick to me before I hear a buzzing sound. Everything is so muted as people scream orders. I see the figure of my dad being escorted out of the house by two officers. Somebody is touching my body but I barely register it.

"You are going to be okay, sweetheart."

A paramedic? Yes. But where is Brayden? I open my mouth to speak.

"Brayden."

I don't think anybody heard me. I fight against the people caring for me. An adrenaline rush allows me to sit up and block out the pain. Blood seeps from my mouth as I call his name.

"Brayden!"

I look up at the stairs. The paramedics grab me.

"Please lay down, ma'am. You took some hard hits and need to be examined."

"I need to see Brayden!"

It's a miracle that I can manage that sentence.

"Brayden!"

"Auntie Skye!"

I hear his footsteps come running down the stairs. I reach out my arms to give him a hug. The paramedics don't stop me as I hug my little hero. After a few seconds, they speak.

"We really need to get you to the hospital, ma'am."

My body is internally screaming from the pain in my head. It becomes overwhelming. I let go of Brayden as my vision blurs to the point where I can only see the color. It's not even five seconds later that I succumb to the pain and allow them to load me on the gurney.

So I have another story in the works that has no relation to Unexpected or Crash. I was going to release it to 'celebrate' 200K reads on Unexpected, but I didn't have enough chapters completed. Now, I'm thinking about releasing all the parts I have finished when Unexpected reaches 300K reads. I have a sneak peek of this new book, The Forgotten, down below if you want to read it.

Please share the story and help me reach 300K reads!

Thank you again for all your support and love! Keep commenting my friends!!!

The Forgotten:

We are the runaways, the homeless, the deformed, and the people that society casts away and eventually forgets about.
We are the people who are overlooked if noticed at all.
We don't follow the rules of the commoners.
We don't conform to societal norms.
We live on our own, follow our own rules, and provide for our own needs.
