I straighten my top, taking a sip of my Sprite. I'm not really in the mood for alcohol tonight. I'm in the mood for a nap. Gavin wore me out.
Daniel taps Andy's arm. He whispers something in her ear before kissing her forehead and lightly squeezing her forearm.
"Have a nice night, and don't party too hard."
He looks at both of us when he says that.
"Bye, Daniel."
He waves and weaves through the crowd of people.
"Why is he leaving so early? Isn't Brayden at a friend's?"
"His uncle is coming to visit him bright and early tomorrow."
I cock my head. I never realized the Ezra parents had siblings. Peni never mentioned an uncle in her time with Hunter.
"He has an uncle?"
"His mom's brother. Apparently he was kicked out of the family a long time ago. He dropped off the face of the earth until just recently. He messaged Daniel on Facebook and asked for a visit."
"Don't you think it's a little sketchy? A disowned uncle visiting?"
She shrugs, her finger lightly tracing the rim of her glass.
"I already spoke my concerns to Daniel. He assured me it would be a safe meeting spot."
"And where is that?"
"They are going to meet at our house and then head to a café."
Her words are dripping concern. She clearly doesn't want this meeting to happen.
"Want to stay at Gavin's tonight? I'm sure he'll be fine with it."
"No thank you. I want to be there in case this uncle turns out to be a psychopath."
I laugh and she smiles. At least she's trying to make light of the situation.
"On a different note, how is it going with Gavin? Has he pushed about you moving in again?"
"Not since I told him no. I just feel a little rushed. I told him in the beginning that I want to take it slow and I guess it's too slow for him."
She leans her elbows on the table, intrigued and concerned.
"Are you moving at a comfortable pace for you right now?"
"Yes."
"Did you tell him you are staying at his place tonight?"
"No. I'm going to surprise him later."
She gives me a smile that makes me brace myself.
"Good, because with Brayden out of the house, I was hoping to get a little something something tonight."
She wiggles her eyebrows and I burst out laughing. I gently push her, shaking my head.
"Hey, you and Gavin can do it whenever you want. You don't have a child running around seeking attention."
"What about his uncle tomorrow?"
Andy's smile vanishes, a serious look replacing it.
"I can be as loud as I want tonight, the uncle can wait."
Now it's her time to laugh as I place my hands over my ears.
"Lalalalalalalala! I didn't need to hear that!"
"Oh relax! It's nothing I haven't told you already."
That is true. Andy and I share everything. Even details about our intimate lives sometimes.
"Plus, you and Gavin have probably done worse."
She's right. I look towards the barstools longingly. It was less than four hours ago that Gavin had me bent over begging for mercy there.
"No. Please don't tell me that. Oh god. You didn't. Did you and Gavin do it down here?"
I smile as my response and she loses her mind. She throws her hands up in an exaggerated manner.
"Ew! Gross! Nope! Nope! I'm done!"
"Hey, you brought it up."
"Whatever! I'm getting a round of shots!"
Andy stands up from her seat, walking over towards the bar.
