The sound of a heated argument wakes me up. My eyelids have a heavy feeling to them. All my limbs do. I don't move or open my eyes. I listen to the discussion instead. The participants are trying to control their volume but I can hear every word.
"You've put her in the hospital twice in less than a month!"
"I'll take the blame for the crash, but how is this my fault?"
"Because she was at your apartment tonight probably arguing with you!"
"I didn't know she was going to breakdown!"
"She's a sensitive person, Gavin! She's been through a lot!"
The room falls silent except for the sound of footsteps. More than likely, Gavin is pacing.
"If she wants to see you after she's out of here, that's up to her. For now, I'm telling you to get the hell out of here before I scream."
Gavin makes some kind of angry sound before leaving the room, his footsteps getting quieter and quieter. I struggle to open my eyes just as Andy walks towards a chair that is seated next to me.
"Skye?"
"Hmmm."
I feel like someone spiked me with one too many sedatives. I still manage to mumble through the fog clouding my thoughts.
"What....happened?"
"That's what you have to piece together a bit. You told me that you were going to speak with Gavin, then the next minute I'm getting a call from Opal saying that you are going to the hospital!"
I grumble sleepily, fighting against the power of whatever meds the doctor put in me.
"I mean medi...cally."
"Your blood pressure was off the charts and you blacked out as a result. Opal said you were throwing up and bawling before, too. What happened?"
I shake my head slowly.
"I don't wa...nn...a talk about it right now."
"Fine. I'll let you rest for now, but you ARE going to tell me what happened."
"Okay."
