***Gavin's POV***
The weeks pass by slowly. Every agonizing day that Skye is missing takes a toll. Twenty-six days today. She's been missing for twenty-six days. Andy spoke to the police but they refuse to open an investigation since she left on her own. Willingly. Nobody forced her.
I blame Andy. I know it isn't right. She's clearly beating herself up over the whole situation, too. In reality, if they didn't fight, Skye would still be here. Andy refuses to tell me what exactly they fought about.
"Yo, Gav. Get your head out of your ass. You have a bar to run."
I can't pull myself from my thoughts. I try my best behind the bar but I can't stop thinking about her. What if she is dead? Andy said she was done with it all. Does that mean she killed herself?
I need to find her. Somebody needs to be looking for her. The cops need to get involved. Andy spoke to them after the first twenty-four hours. What about now? Weeks have passed. I think it's time to get them to do something.
But what if they don't.
My hands start to shake. The glass bottle of whatever alcohol I was pouring falls to the floor, smashing. Several conversations around the bar stop and people look at me. Sonny pushes one of the bartenders out of the way as he approaches me. Through teeth that appear to be welded shut, he speaks to me.
"Get upstairs."
"No. I have a bar to run."
"That wasn't a request. Upstairs. NOW."
I throw my rag to the floor where the broken bottle is.
