"Well can it wait? I'm sorry, but I have a meeting in five."
You were about to give up, but Kakashi spoke up for you. "No, I'm afraid this can't wait. This is a life or death situation."
You flinched, realizing he was right. It didn't matter how stressed you were, you needed to ask the Hokage for help now. Before it was too late. You needed to ask her for help, for your people. For all the little Haru's in the world.
"Alright, but please try to make it quick." The Hokage leaned back in her chair, watching you curiously.
Shizune opened her mouth to protest, but Lady Tsunade held her hand up to silence her, gesturing for you to continue.
You cleared your throat, working up the confidence to tell this powerful leader your story. Your plea for help. "Completing my internship was only half the reason I came to your country. Honestly, becoming a teacher is the least of my concerns at the moment." You noticed the silver in your peripheral, feeling a surge of strength knowing that Kakashi stood by your side.
When you had first decided to come to the Land of Fire and ask the Hokage for help, you had imagined yourself standing in front of her alone. Now that you had someone to support you, you felt much more at ease.
"The other reason I came to Konoha, was to ask for your help. The Land of Shadows is currently under a humanitarian crisis."
Shizune, who up to this point had been bouncing on her feet impatiently, went still. She watched you cautiously, wary of what your next words would be. Lady Tsunade acted the same, leaning forward in her chair.
You clasped your hands behind your back, continuing. "My country is currently under the rule of a group of shady individuals known as 'the Council'. They have brought a reign of terror to the people of Shadows for nearly three decades now." You shifted your stance. "They have brought a dark age to our country, making violence and murder socially acceptable behavior." You took a deep breath, calming yourself before you finally gave away the darkest secret of your country. One that you had sworn to never tell. If the Council ever discovered your confession to Kakashi or the Hokage, they would send a team of Nightmares to assassinate you. "In my country, it has been made a necessary action for our people to murder those they are closest to in order to gain power and respect." You noted Lady Tsunade's long, hard blink. "To become a Jonin, you must kill everyone you love."
The blonde woman flinched, glancing at her assistant who had the same expression of shock. She looked back at you. "So what you're saying is that the Council has made it a necessary feat to kill the people you care about to become socially acceptable, for the last thirty years?"
You nodded slowly, feeling worried of how she would react. Even so, you also felt relieved that you finally got this secret off your chest. It had been your burden to carry alone for many years, so to finally share it with someone was relieving.
The Hokage shook her head in dismay. "This is some shocking information you have here. Shizune, cancel my meeting with the others. Tell them that something important has come up."
The short haired assistant nodded before leaving the room, glancing back at you once before closing the door behind her.
You felt thankful that Lady Tsunade was taking you seriously, but also stressed that she might lock you up.
"There's no need to look so worried, (Y/N). I'm not going to make any rash decisions yet. I just want to understand what it is that you're saying." The blonde woman reassured you.
You nodded, glad that she wouldn't make her mind up yet.
"Now please, answer my questions so I can fully understand the issue at hand. You're saying that the Council started this wave of terror. How exactly did they gain power?"
