~ Ethan's POV ~

As soon as I sat down in my plane seat, the reality of what I was doing, really hit me. I was getting on a four hour flight, to take a girl out on a date, who I had only met once before. And yet, somehow, the reality of the situation didnt seem out of place at all. To me, this was the right call, and the smile on my face was the physical evidence of that.

I texted (Y/N) to let her know I was now taking off, and that I'd see her in a few hours. Her response was wishing me a safe flight, and expressing that she couldnt wait to see me, which made my stomach flip. This girl, I dont know what it is about her, but she has some sort of power over me that I cant explain, and I absolutely love it.

The flight was more or less completely uneventful, and even if something dramatic had happened, I was too caught up in my own thoughts to notice. I couldnt stop rehearsing the scene of me meeting her at the airport, how I hoped it would play out, what I planned to do. Should I run at her, lift her up in my arms like a cliché romance movie? Or, should I just stand still, and smile, creating the moment that lasts an eternity when she realises it's me, and then we run at each other? Shit, that's a cliché romance movie scene too. I couldnt decide, but no matter what way it played out in my head, it felt perfect, and I knew that when I saw her, my heart would take over, and I'd know what to do. Or, at least, I hoped that I would.

When the plane finally landed, the excitement really kicked in, and I found myself fumbling with the seatbelt in order to stand out of my plane seat and retrieve my luggage. If it hadnt been for the people in front of me, getting off the plane before I did, Im convinced I would have run down those stairs like a kid running down the stairs to look at the tree on Christmas morning. However, Im slightly grateful for the fact that there were people in front of me, and that prevented me from potentially falling down the stairs leading off the plane.

The airport itself is pretty bland, no more interesting than any other airport I've been in, and I've visited this same airport before, so there is nothing to distract me from the one person Im looking for. And when I do spot her, she's standing at a vending machine, with her phone in her hand, and an impatient expression on her face as she stares at the machine intensely. A small smile places itself on my face as I take my phone out of my back pocket, and send her a short text.

Ethan: I spy with my not-so-septic eye, a cute Hufflepuff :D

I see her gaze dart down to her phone screen, and the smile that takes over her face as she slowly turns to face me, sends butterflies fluttering around my stomach like crazy. My previously small smile, spreads into a beaming grin, and she reflects my smile back at me, then shakes her head and laughs in disbelief, causing me to do the same. Neither of us can quite believe that this is really happening. The sparkle in her eyes tells me that she's trying her best not to cry, and when her chin begins to wobble, we run towards each other, and I pull her into my arms, her head fitting perfectly against my chest. The sound of her sniffle fills me with immediate concern.
"Why are you crying?" I ask her quietly.
(Y/N) pulls away from me slightly and rubs her eyes "I cant believe you really got on a plane, just to see me. Nobody has ever done something like this for me before."
I shrug, my bright smile still plastered on my face "You're worth it."
She chuckles and shakes her head "Shut your handsome face."
I wink at her "Never."

The journey to (Y/N)'s apartment was filled with laughter, and embarrassingly loud singing to every song that played on the radio, even when we didnt know the words. If there had been any tension, that car ride certainly would have dissolved it. The transition from our text conversations to talking in person again felt so natural, it felt as though we had never even spoken over text, and the time between the last moments we spent with each other in person felt like they happened a week ago, when in actual fact, they occurred a couple of months ago. Everything just feels so right when Im with her.

We only stay inside her apartment for a short while, giving me time to drop off my suitcase, and providing (Y/N) with enough time to change her outfit. Given how well I've gotten to know her in the past couple of months, I shouldnt have been surprised by her choice of clothing, especially in regards to where we're heading for our date. However, when she walks out of her bedroom wearing a Hogwarts uniform in Hufflepuff colours, I cant stop myself from pulling her into another warm embrace. Could this girl get any better?

"Can I drive?" I ask her curiously.
(Y/N) pouts dramatically at me "Awh, are you intimidated by the idea of a girl driving you to our date?" We both laugh, and I shake my head at her.
"No, not at all, I just figured you'd prefer to focus all your attention on the music for the journey." I shrug, but my expression is one of an ever so slightly smug smile, knowing that I've got her cornered with this one, she can never resist the offer of the aux cord.
And when her eyes light up at my words, I know she's totally sold on me driving. (Y/N) tosses me the keys and practically throws herself into the passenger seat of her car, leaving me standing by the car door, laughing and shaking my head at her.

"'CAUSE BABY TONIIIIGHT, THE DJ GOT US FALLIN' IN LOVE AGAAAIN! YEAH BABY, TONIIIIGHT, THE DJ GOT US FALLIN' IN LOVE AGAIN! SO DANCE, DANCE LIKE IT'S THE LAST, LAST NIGHT OF YOUR LIFE, LIFE, GON' GET YOU RIGHT!" She shouts along with the music, while Im laughing almost to the point of tears.
"Jesus christ, this is a nostalgia trip!" I comment, wiping tears from my eyes as I continue to drive.
(Y/N) sighs and picks up her phone again "Im bored of this song now, my lack of attention span cant take this." Just as Im about to reply with how relatable that is, she starts screaming "CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SOoooON, THERE'LL BE PEACE WHEN YOU ARE DONE! LAY YOU WEARY HEAD TO REEeeeEST, DONT YOU CRY NO MORE!"
My eyes widen "You never told me you liked Supernatural?"
(Y/N) slowly turns to me with an expression that can only be described as utter betrayal "LIKED Supernatural? You'd better be joking. I live and breathe Supernatural."
I raise an eyebrow "What about Harry Potter?"
She scoffs while continuing to scroll through music on her phone "My entire spiritual being is an embodiment of nothing but Harry Potter, while I live and breathe Supernatural, and cry tears of Doctor Who and Sherlock."
I chuckle "Are you in enough fandoms?"
(Y/N) gives me a cheeky smile "Ethan, darlin', that's just the beginning."
I sigh as I keep my gaze on the road "I guess this means you're gonna have to educate me on all of your fandoms."
She gasps, then starts squealing "Oh my god! We can do fandom exchange dates! Like, I give you a boxset of a tv show to watch, and you give me the same, and we watch each other's shows, exchange reviews, and decide our favourites! Oh my god!"
She continues on with her rant, and I cant stop smiling all the way through it. This is the cutest girl in existence.

As we pull up just down the street from Universal, (Y/N) starts playing Professor Umbridge's theme from Harry Potter, purely so that she can shout the word "CUNT" at the top of her lungs. Im going to marry this girl. After disconnecting her phone from her car, the two of us escape her car like excited children.
"By the way, I googled the prices of Hogwarts robes from here, and I have the exact amount of money necessary in my purse, to buy you your own robes, since you dont have them. Oh, and as Im buying them, you're not going to persuade me that you're a Gryffindor, because that is a blatant lie, and the simulation glitched when it told you that was true. You're a Hufflepuff, plain and simple." She explains, deadly serious, before breaking out in the most adorable grin I've ever seen.
I mirror her smile back at her "For you, I'll take the pain of being Hufflepuff."
She rushes past me in an attempt to hide her pink cheeks "That would have been a lovely thing to say, if it werent a direct stab at my house, so fuck you for that."
We approach the Universal gates, and I glance down at (Y/N) to see her beaming up at everything around her, like she's unable to believe her eyes, which is exactly how I feel, looking at her. Turning to face me, she catches me staring at her, and her smile only widens as she slips her hand in mine.

I knew, from that moment onwards, that I would spend the rest of my life doing whatever I could, just to see that smile again.
