~ Your POV ~

Sifting through your mail as you lock your front door, you sigh. Bills, bills, pointless ads, nothing unusual, you think to yourself as you dump the pile on your kitchen counter. The pile of envelopes hits the counter, and a single dark blue envelope slips out of the pile, then gently falls to the floor. You frown at it, and bend down to pick it up, you must've slipped past that letter when going through the pile. The handwriting on the front is not familiar to you, and you're eagerly curious to find out what's written inside. Tearing open the envelope, you find a lighter blue piece of paper with a short message on it. Your first thought is why someone sent you such a short letter, rather than texting you, but when you read the words on the page, you know exactly why.

"I know a lot about you, (Y/N), and I can promise you this: if you dont stay away from Ethan, I will make you suffer more than you can possibly imagine. He's mine, and you will not take it from me.

And in case you dont believe me, you'd better answer your phone."

Just as you read the last word on the page, your phone starts ringing in your back pocket, and you almost jump out of your skin. With trembling hands, you take your phone out of your back pocket, and answer the call.
"H-Hello?" You ask, trying to hide the fact you're terrified.
There's heavy breathing on the other line, and the tension feels like it lasts a lifetime, before a breathy voice speaks to you.
"Stay away from him."
And then the line goes dead.

You start freaking out, pacing the length of your hall, not knowing what to do. How did they know to call you exactly when you finished reading the letter? Can they see you? Your paranoia gets the best of you, and in a flash you're running around your house, shutting every window and closing every pair of curtains. How did they get your number? More importantly, your address to send that letter to!?! Oh god. Acting on instinct, you dash around your home, bringing all your necessities into your bedroom: food, water, extra blankets, everything you need. Thankfully, your bedroom has an ensuite, so while you take refuge in here, you have a bathroom on standby. Out of genuine fear, you place a chair at your bedroom door, underneath the handle, to prevent it from being opened from the other side. Once that's done, you release a sigh of relief, and collapse onto your bed, submerging yourself in as many blankets as humanly possible, until you appear to be nothing more than a face in a mountain of blankets. Retrieving your phone again, you go to twitter, and decide to tweet out in the hopes that if the person that threatened you sees it, they'll be satisfied by your reaction and leave you alone. For all you know, this could be a fan of Ethan's that's playing some sick prank, it may not be a legitimate threat at all, but you're still terrified.

@ (Y/N): I have seriously never been so petrified in my own home

And with that, you place your phone on your bed, in front of you and your mountain of blankets. To try and distract yourself, you turn on the tv, and allow yourself to become absorbed by a Jeremy Kyle episode you've already seen countless times. However, you only remain focussed on it for a few seconds, before your mind drifts away with thoughts about what's going on. Being friends with Ethan since you were little kids, you never imagined you'd be left terrified in your own hone as a result of knowing him on a personal level. The way you became friends was actually pretty strange when you think about it, you were both so young when he spotted you getting picked on by the older kids, and then he ran over to you, stood in front of you, and protected yo- your phone beeps loudly, and your mountain of blankets jolts as your body jumps in surprise. You pick up your phone and smile lightly at the text notification, speak of the devil.

Ethan: hey, what was your tweet about? Did you just find another huge spider in your house or has something happened?

You sigh and shake your head at him, unable to stop yourself from laughing slightly, Ethan still knows you too well, even after all this time. And he's still as protective of you as ever! That was evident the day you met, and for the rest of your lives afterwards. At first, you two didnt even really speak to each other, he'd just appear whenever you were in trouble or being upset by someone, he'd protect you, you'd thank him, and that was that. A strange situation for a pair of kids, but it was your situation nonetheless. After a little while though, little Ethan came up to you one day and asked if you'd like to hang out with him and his friends, his exact words were "because you'd be safer if you stuck with me" and, needless to say, that's exactly what you did throughout your childhood. You became best friends pretty quickly, but neither him nor you ever understood why he was so protective of you. High school came around, and although you two stayed close and still talked frequently, you no longer hung out together in school, because everyone assumed you had crushes on each other, which back then was like the end of the world for you both. However, despite that, his protectiveness over you only got stronger, as he got stronger as a person. He was more protective of you than he was of girlfriends he had during high school, and more protective of you than any of your boyfriends in high school were of you, which actually caused breakups for both you and Ethan, but neither of you minded.
