~ Ethan's POV ~

The second I've climbed out of (Y/N)'s window with Marie in my arms, I pull my phone out of my back pocket and call the police. Not wasting any time, I tell them the situation, and give them the address. Im told that an ambulance is on its way, along with the police. Hanging up the phone, I slide it into my back pocket, and hold Marie close.
"Dont worry Marie, it's gonna be ok. I wont ever let anyone hurt you or (Y/N) ever again, I promise." I whisper as I rock her in my arms, kissing her hair.
Marie clings to my hoodie and hides her face in my neck. The faint sound of sirens in the distance reaches my ears, and Marie instinctively hides further into me, the sound scaring her.
I smile as I continue to rock her in my arms "It's the superheroes Marie, dont be scared." She mumbles something into my shoulder in reply, and I raise an eyebrow "What did you say?"
Marie pulls away from me slightly so that my hoodie doesnt muffle her words "They're not the superheroes, you are."
My smile widens "Thank you little lady, you are the cutest thing!"
The sirens grow louder as they get closer, and when I hear the front door being broken down, I run around the front of the house with Marie still in my arms, to be met by paramedics and police officers. I explain that it's me who called them and give them more details about what's happened, and why they werent called sooner. My words trail off as I catch sight of an unconscious (Y/N) being wheeled towards the ambulance on a stretcher.
"Oh my god." I whisper, before bolting over to her side. Marie sits on the side of the stretcher, gently curling up against her sister, and I happen to glance over my shoulder when (Y/N)'s father is being dragged over to a police car in handcuffs.
Red hot anger fills my veins as I storm over to him and stand face to face with the man who has physically abused my best friend for entire life. Im having to fight the urge to punch him in the face, because I know that'll get me in trouble more than it will serve as any sort of justice. (Y/N)'s father stares down at me, almost like he's daring me to speak, and my expression hardens.
"There's so much I could say to you, but as you're seconds away from the life sentence you deserve, I'll make this quick. You will never see or hurt (Y/N) or Marie ever again. I want you to listen to this last part very carefully: they are under my protection, and I'd sooner kill you than let you within five meters of them, you got that?" My words are pierced with anger, my pain at seeing my loved ones being hurt is transformed into nothing but sincere rage, and I know in this moment that if I ever see him again, I wont be able to stay as composed as I am right now.
A high pitched voice shouts at me from inside the ambulance "ETHAN, (Y/N)'S AWAKE!"
Completely forgetting about her father's existence, I practically fly into the ambulance and grab (Y/N)'s hand. Her eyes are only half open, and she's looking around fearfully.
"You're in an ambulance, on your way to the hospital. Your dad's being taken away by the police. Marie is safe, and so are you, I wouldnt leave without you both being safe." I tell her in a soft voice, trying to reassure her.
(Y/N) still looks scared "B-But...where will we go after this?"
I grin at her and roll my eyes playfully "You're both moving in with me, ya silly goose! I dread to think what your next excuse is for keeping me in the friendzone now that your dad is out of the picture, that was always your go-to before."
(Y/N) manages a laugh at my joke, then she smiles gently "I guess I have no excuses left now, you'll just have to figure out how to break down my walls."
I shake my head at her "I dont need to figure that out, I already know."
She raises an eyebrow "Oh really? Then tell me, how do you plan to break down my walls?"
I lean down and capture her lips in a soft kiss "Im going to love you so much, you'll forget what it felt like not to be, and if you let me, I'll do that for the rest of forever."
(Y/N) smiles as she starts falling back out of consciousness "I think that sounds good, I dont have any plans right now."
I laugh slightly and squeeze her hand "Good, I'll be here when you wake up. Sleep tight, beautiful."
A blush creeps its way onto her cheeks as her eyes flutter closed, and when I look over at Marie, she's fallen asleep next to (Y/N)'s legs. The ambulance doors close, and I smile as I sit down beside the stretcher, my hand still holding (Y/N)'s tightly as the ambulance begins driving us to the hospital.

We're not out of the woods just yet, but I know one thing for sure: sirens have never sounded so good.
