They say when you’re about to die you see you life flash before your eyes. And for a long time I honestly thought that would be the worst feeling in the world, knowing you’re about to die, feeling it, having every thought and memory you treasured run through your mind one last time.

But let me just tell you, that’s nothing compared to watching someone you care about die. Five seconds felt like five hours, I felt like puking and passing out and crying and screaming all at the same time, I couldn’t stop shaking I couldn’t breathe I couldn’t think, in that moment I wished, more than anything else that it was me.

But it wasn’t.

And when the train stopped, and the screams stopped, and it was silent, it was like every good thing in the world was gone, like nothing mattered. I felt dead, only I was living and breathing but they weren’t.

And though I had cared about Charlotte, I had no idea how broken Luke felt, until that moment, because knowing my best friend and the girl I had discovered in that instant I loved were gone, I was not fine at all.

And then I heard it.

And in that moment I had never appreciated Luke’s stupid ring tone more in my entire life.

Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you're part of a team! Everything is awesome when you're living our dream!

Whirling around, I let out a sort of shriek finding Niall, lying on his back on the platform, still clutching Luke’s shirt in one hand and the girl in the black sweatshirt’s in the other, which I realized with a sinking feeling as I approached was not destiny.

“What the hell?” Louis shouted, “How did you even do that?”

“You know, how when a Mom’s baby is in trouble she can do crazy shit like lift a car off them?”  Niall panted.

“Yeah,” Louis breathed.

“I may hate Luke,” Niall replied, “But he’s fun to hate, you know what I mean, don’t get me wrong I want to kick him in the teeth, but thinking he was going to die, I panicked.”

“Luke you dumb ass!” I cried, pulling him into a hug.

“What the hell were you thinking?” Louis demanded.

“I thought it was Destiny.” Luke panted.

“Sorry.” The girl whispered.

“Why the hell did you do that?” Niall demanded.

“Niall!” I cried, “Don’t yell at her.”

“Sorry,” Niall sighed, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah.” The girl mumbled, rising to her feet.

“A thank you would be nice.” Louis informed her.

“Why?” she asked.

“What do you mean why, he just saved your ass!” he cried.

“I didn’t want him to.” She whispered.

“So I’m guessing if we leave you’re going to do the exact same thing again?” Niall sighed.

“If I say no will you leave?”

“No.”

“I’m fine dude, just…. leave me alone.”
