Chapter 28: Lunch Break

Three weeks later

Lesedi

"Noah? - Mason? - Guys? - I come bearing food...

Pablo-? ", I called out as I entered the house.

I had conveniently not returned the keys yet.

'Where the hell is everybody?', I thought to myself.

"What the hell - what's with the noise?", I heard a grungy voice from upstairs.

I took a few steps up.

"Err - Oli - ", I began.

"Aargh - What the -", I screamed, dropping the bag of food on the ground.

Oliver was standing stark naked in front of me.

"Oh - hi, Lessie", he spoke coolly - wiping the sleep off his eyes.

"Clothes, Oliver - ever heard of them?", I said looking away, focusing my attention on something, anything but him.

"What - you don't like what you see?", he said, his tone full of amusement.

"I'm serious, Oli", I replied impatiently.

"You brought breakfast!", he exclaimed, completely ignoring my uneasiness.

"Lunch - ", I said grabbing the bags from the steps.

"If you want any, I'd suggest you cover up first - I'll be in the kitchen", I stated as I turned around and walked down the stairs.

"Visually scarred", I muttered as I set the bags on the dining table.

"That smells so good - what is it?", Oliver asked as he walked over - now wearing a pair of boxers.

"Do you not own anymore clothes?", I stated annoyed.

"It's warm Lessie, cut a poor guy some slack", he replied innocently.

"Fine", I sighed while rolling my eyes.

"Where's everyone anyway?", I asked curiously while looking around.

"Beats me - they were all here when I went to bed...", he said shrugging his shoulders.

"Aren't you supposed to be at work or something?", I asked - I mean, it was a Monday after all.

"It's my day off - now show me the merchandise ", he said eyeing the bags of food.

I had paid a visit to the fish market in the morning at the break of dawn - way before Aiden had even thought of waking up.

All because of a sudden craving for crab I had, after watching this random online video on Sri Lankan cuisine yesterday - namely, the Jaffna crab curry.

This, paired with some hot steamed rice - my mouth watered just thinking about it.

So, it was no surprise that I ended up sneaking out of the loft at the wee hours of the morning, in hopes of getting my hands on the freshest catch of the day.

"Go ahead and take the food out - I'll call the guys and check where they are", I said as I dialed Noah's number.

He answered on the second ring.

"Where the hell are you guys? And where's Pablo?", I asked half annoyed at the turn of events.

"You're, home?", Noah asked surprised.
