Betty quickly pushed Jughead away when she heard the familiar sound of the door opening. Someone with blonde hair and bright eyes opened the door. She reminded him of Betty. He had only met her once, it was really quick and he didn't remember her telling him what her name was. As her eyes found Betty and Jughead, standing a few inches away from her, her bright eyes turned dark. She observed Betty and Jughead could tell she had already realized that Betty was wearing his shirt. After staring at Betty for almost a minute she looked at Jughead and then back to Betty.
"Betty?" Her voice was strained and Jughead could tell she was not happy with him being in her house. "Why is he here?" Betty looked at Jughead and then back to her mom. For some reason the thought of Betty telling her mom the truth about why he was here scared him. He wanted Mrs Cooper to like him. She was, after all, going to be his mother-in-law. He was sure of that.
"Because I want him to be here." Betty said and Jughead breathes out. Not aware that he had held his breath.
"Have you and my daughter had sex?" Betty choked and started coughing.
"Mom!" Betty shouted when she was done. Jughead smirked.
"No we haven't." He said and leaned closer to Betty. "Yet." Betty once again choked and punched her elbow into his side. Mrs Cooper looked at them.
"I haven't seen you at Riverdale High before." Mrs Cooper stated and Jughead tried to figure out what to reply to her. So he just stood there. The tension in the air was so intense you could almost touch it.
"Yeah...uhm...I don't go there." Jughead said as he rubbed his neck and stared down at his feet. For the first time he felt slightly ashamed that he was from the Southside. For once he wanted to be a perfect Northsider. And be the perfect choice for Betty.
"Where do you..." Mrs Cooper stopped in the middle of her sentence as she saw his Serpent jacket. "You're a Serpent?" She whispered. And he thought to himself. I'm not just a Serpent I'm the damn leader.
"Thats one way to put it." He said with a cocky voice. He was damn proud of being a Serpent. It was one of the few things he actually liked about his life.
"Elizabeth Cooper how could you be around these drug dealers?" Mrs Cooper said in a slightly panicked voice. Jughead had to bite his tongue not to laugh. If only she knew what we did. He thought to himself. When Betty didn't reply her mom kept going. "I mean how did you even meet." Jughead felt a little uneasy. What if Betty told her mother how they met? How he had cut Archie and threatened him.
"We just...met." Her voice was not convincing when she told her mother. Mrs Cooper just stared at her.
"'You just met'?" Mrs Cooper didn't buy it. Betty sighed.
"Yeah. We just met." Betty said. She was irritated. Her mom shook her head.
"Get out." She said to Jughead. Betty shook her head.
"No mom. He's staying. For as long as he wants." Mrs Cooper stared at Betty for a long time until she opened her mouth.
"Get. Out." She said through gritted teeth. "The both of you." Betty stared at her. Jughead could see how mad she was.
"So what? You're kicking me out? For good?" Betty asked her mom. Somehow her anger turned Jughead on and he had to force himself not to smirk at the shy girl in front of him being so mad at her mom.
"Maybe I am." She answered. "Maybe you're not allowed to ever set foot in this house again. Not until you get rid of...him." Mrs Cooper continued with disgust.
"I can't believe you're doing this." Jughead sensed Betty's anger but as he looked at her face he saw her eyes, shiny and slightly pink.
"I can't believe you're dating him." She said and pointed at Jughead. "You were such a perfect daughter. Look what he turned you into. A slut." Betty's eyes filled with even more tears.
"That's enough." Jughead said. Now he was really mad at Mrs Cooper. He was somehow fine with her being mad at Betty for liking him. But calling her a slut was way too much. If she hadn't been Betty's mom, if she would've been a guy, he would've hurt her. Badly.
"Yeah? And who are you to tell me that?" Mrs Cooper said. She was mad. Really fucking mad. Jughead took a step back. He didn't want to seem like a threat to the mother of his future wife. "You're such a little slut. I raised you to be perfect. And look at you now. Even worse than Polly. If that's even possible." Somehow the mention of Polly, a name Jughead never have heard before, broke something inside Betty. She started screaming and pushed herself onto her mom.
"You do not get to talk like that about her mom!" She shouted. Jughead rushed to the chaos in front of him. "She is not a slut!" Betty clawed her mother and pushed her. Her mom didn't even try to fight back. She just stood there and took every punch Betty made.
"Maybe...you were the reason she..." Jughead pulled Betty off of her mother.
"She's sick because you sucked as a mother. I had nothing to do with it. And you know it." Betty pointed at her mom. Whose eyes were just as shiny as Betty's were before. "When I get her out..." Betty gasped for breath and tried to get out of Jughead's strong arms. "I'll make sure you'll never see her again." She said with a calm voice. Her mom just looked at her, in the arms of the boy she hated, and then she walked away. Out of the house.
Jughead turned Betty's head and made sure she looked at her.
"I need to get out of here." She whispered. "Can I stay at your place." Jughead sighed and looked at her. He wanted her to live with her more than anything.
But would she accept his dad?
Would she like the little trailer they lived in?
Would she be safe in his neighborhood?
