“Viv,” Jasper said as I finished up eating.

“Hmm,” I responded.

“Are you ready to be changed?” He asked.

“Um, yeah, I guess so,” I said. “I wanna be with you forever and I can't do that if I'm dead.”

“Go change into something comfy. I'll be up in a minute,” Jasper said. I stood up from the table and headed up to our bedroom and changed into a pair of black running pants and a hoodie.

I sat down on the bed and fidgeted with my bracelet nervously.

“Are you ready to go darlin’?” Jasper asked.

“How bad is it going to hurt?” I asked, looking up at him timidly.

“I'm not gonna lie darlin’. It'll be unbearable, but it's the last physical pain you'll ever feel,” he said, sitting down beside me. “I do not want you to have to experience the pain of it all, but it's the only way we can be together forever.”

“What're we waiting for then?” I asked, laying down dramatically.

“Are you sure?” He asked. I nodded as he grabbed my hand.

“I love you Jasper,” I said.

“I love you too Vivian,” he said, leaning over to kiss my lips gently. He pulled my hand up to his mouth, breathing deeply before sinking his teeth into my wrist.

I think I might've screamed, but I don't really know. There was an intense burning feeling in my wrist, like it was on fire. The feeling spread up my arm and across my chest, making me feel like I was being burned alive. All I could feel was the burning, it over took all my senses. A train could've crashed into me and I wouldn't have even felt it because all I could focus on was the burning feeling that was spreading throughout my body.

I thought it would never end. The feeling was killing me. It carried on for what could've been, and what definitely felt like, years on end. Everytime I thought that would be it, that it would be over, it got worse. It got so much worse that I knew my throat would be raw from screaming when I woke up.

Eventually, it subsided. Everything seemed sharper already and I hadn't even opened my eyes yet. All my memories from before we're there but they seemed duller, like I was looking at them through some type of film instead of my 20/20 vision. I could hear movements from within the room, and even the “sound proof” walls didn't seem sound proof anymore.

I forced my eyes to open, only to be met with the amber eyes belonging to my mate. My throat still burned like it was on fire. I had known a less intense feeling like this before the firey pain. It was thirst.

“You're thirsty, huh?” He asked. I nodded slightly and he grasped my hand. For the first time ever, he felt warm to me.

"Yeah. I need a drink," I said, my voice silky yet bell like.

“We're the same temperature now, darlin’,” he said. I smiled up at him as he kissed my forehead before he led me out of the house and towards the woods.
