For the last three tears, you had been sent to a prestigious boarding school. Your parents had the money and you had almost perfect grades. But every day your insecurities grew as your parents pressured you to be the best and you felt so stupid even if it wasn't true.

You sat alone at lunch. Your friends were either trying to cram information for the exam they had next lesson or off school because they were sick. Staring down at your food, you realised you didn't feel like eating much.

"You know you have to eat, right?"
"Oh, er hi Roderick," you greeted.
"You still have to eat," he reminded.
"I know but I'm not hungry." Roderick sighed. He dug into his pocket and pulled out chocolate. He broke it in half and offered it to you. "Are you sure?"
"I wouldn't have offered it otherwise." You gladly ate the chocolate but then remembered what had made you lose your appetite in the first place. "Are you okay?"
"I'm just stressed," you replied.
"You should talk to someone about that, maybe your parents or-"
"They're the cause of it."
"Why? Your grades are great," he said.
"They don't think that," you told him. "They think I'm stupid."
"You can always talk to me."

You both sat awkwardly next to each other. Not wanting to starve until you got home later, you ate some of the food on your plate.
"Why did you come over here?"
"My friends finally decided I needed to 'grow a pair' and ask you out."
"You kidding," you said.
"No," he insisted. "I'm not but if you think you'll be even more stressed out or if you don't like me, you can say no." That was shocking. Roderick Peterson liked you. You were expecting that. It was hard to hide that attraction you felt towards him but you thought you had gotten over the silly crush. Evidently you hadn't as you blushed and avoided eye contact . "I'd like an answer even if it is a no."
"It's a yes."

That had shocked him.

"Really?"
"Yeah, I was going to ask you out months ago but I got sick that week," you admitted.
"There's a performance of Heathers at a local theatre Saturday if you wanted to go?" Roderick offered.
"I'd love to," you exclaimed.
"I'm so glad I asked you out, I feel so lucky," he said quietly.
"I feel the exact same." Everyone began clearing out and headed to their lessons. Roderick kissed your cheek.
"See you after the exam," he said. "Good luck but I doubt you need it."
"Thanks Roderick," you said with a smile on your face.

This is for cringeworthyalways. It seems so out of character for Rodeeick but I hope you like it :)
