"Dylan?"

"What..." I moaned. It was freezing outside and inside. Snow was pouring from the sky merciless. I wrapped myself inside my duvet.

"Dylan!"

"Yeah!?" I croaked.

I heard Mom come upstairs. She flung my bedroom door open. She was holding a cup of hot chocolate and a plate warm bagels covered in butter.

"Dylan, you need to get up. Staying in bed is not going to help you get better." said, mom, as she put my breakfast on my beside drawer.

"Thanks mom" I said, curling back into my cocoon.

"Better get up soon, Jacob and Alice are waiting for you downstairs" she said, before leaving my room.

I jumped up. Jake and Alice. Now?

I checked my alarm clock. 11:30.

I rolled my eyes as I stuffed a bagel into my mouth and washed it down with some hot coco. What ever happen to alerting me in advanced before appearing at my house?

I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face. After I wore some sweatpants, my black puffer jacket and my Vans hat.

As I got downstairs, Jake and Alice were drinking hot chocolate and having a lovely conversation with my mom.

"Oh Dylan" said Mom, as I walked into the kitchen.

I tried to smiled, barring my teeth.

"Oh hey Dylan. We though it would a great day to go snowboarding today." said Jake.

"Yeah, that's a lovely idea. The snow has calmed down a bit anyways. Plus it will be great for you to get outside a bit.

I nodded.

"Okay then, it's settled. Grab your boots and we'll get going" said Alice, putting her mug down.

I did as I was told. I LOVE snowboarding. Mom got me these special wellies last year. I know it sounds pathetic, but they worked a miracle. Before I would wear a my good sneakers to go snowboarding and mom wasn't having it so she got me these black wellies with fur on the inside. They would keep out the cold entirely.

Before I thought they were embarrassing until Jake's mom got wellies for him too.

I got my snowboard from the storage room. Dad got me it 3 years ago and still works like a charm. It has a picture of Dark Vader on it.

I went back to the kitchen. "Okay, bye Mom" I said leading everyone out the back door.

"Bye Mrs Gray" said Jake and Alice.

"Bye, you lot be careful" replied Mom.

We went out to the field behind the houses. The snow had stopped and covered the whole entire field. Maybe 2 or 3 groups of friends were already out here, having fun in the snow.

Jake and I raced up the hill and Alice followed us behind. I kind of wish Alice didn't come. Me and Jake would do amazing things without any of Alice's judgement. Alice was always good at everything. She was always faster and sneakier.

I could do a 360 kick-flip with my snowboard and be ever so proud of myself, but Alice would come over and do a nightmare flip in the air with no hassle at all. That was the thing about Alice she was always a step ahead.

"Okay Dylan, Alice, let's race down the hill, on you marks, get set, GO"

We sped down the hill. The ice-cold wind blasted my face, almost making my whole face numb. But it felt cool.
