- Scavenger Hunt -

"And you still don't know who she is 'till this day?" said Nathan.

We were waiting in line at the Cafeteria today to get our lunch. Mom usually pack a pretty decent lunch but today they were have spicy chicken curry. And no one messes about with special meal days. Me and Nate deliberately came out early just to get in front of the line and be severed big portions. We faked that Nathan had gotten a nose bleed.

Jake was in a different class so we said we would save him a space when class was over. But when we got in the cafeteria nearly 20 people we already waiting, so I decided to tell Nathan what happened at the dance.  Anyways let get back on track.

"No. She said she wanted to keep it a secret" I replied.

"But what if it's like a 13 year old?! Dude, if anyone found out they'll would call you a pervert for life"

"Nathan it wasn't. It's was only the juniors and seniors at that dance"

"Dylan, I'm telling you. It may be all fun and games now but its going to eat you alive before Christmas"

"There's a reason why i'm telling you now, Nathan it's starting to bother me." I complained.

We moved up further in line. 

"Okay so, what did she look like?" Nathan started

"Uh, blonde hair I think, grey or blue eyes..."

"Okay, that's a start. Did she sound familiar?"

"I don't know Nathan. What kind of question is that?!" I looked back at him.

"Right so, did she seem familiar in any way?!" 

"Well she was different from most of cheerleaders. She was cool and relax... and hot" I nodded.

We reached the food counter and took our bowls of chicken curry.

"Could it be Alice?" 

"Ha" I say loudly. "Could it be Alice... your funny Nate. She didn't even want to go the the dance"

"What if its Kara?" Nathan said.

I nearly drop my tray onto the floor. 

"Dude..." I started.

"But like Dylan? Were running out of option here. Weren't you guy dating before? Perhaps she was attracted to you and your were attracted to her. Like soulmates"

I walk to a table silently and thought. I start biting my nail.

"Okay what if it is her?" I said, looking around

"The only the way to find out is to ask" he said, happily chewing his chicken curry. I nodded.

I looked around and saw Jake come to the cafeteria.

"Hey Nathan don't tell Jake... yet."

"Why not?"

"Come on, you know Jake. Everyone will know within minutes"

"Whatever dude" Nathan shrugged.

After school, I bumped in Kara near the lockers. "Hey, Kara" 

"Oh hi Dylan" she smiled.

"Um, so I don't think we got to talk at the Halloween dance, did we?"

"No I don't think so. Did you like our performance?" 

"Ya it was great. So... what did you get up to after the dance?" I said as cool as I could.

"Why?" she asked. "It was like weeks ago."

"Uh, you know... i'm just curious"

"Okay, well I hung out with I guy--"

"What did he look like?"

"Okay, Dylan. What's going on?" she stopped me. "Why are you all of a sudden so interested in what I did at the dance?"

"Uh..." I stammered having no idea what to say next.

"Oh I see. You're jealous" she smirked.

"Uh...wait...what?" I said confused. "No, it's just--"

"Shh" she said putting her finger on my lip. "Don't worry, I wasn't doing anything. I was just hanging out with my friends at the dance the whole time" 

"Right" I sighed in relief "Okay, that's cool. Well talk later?" 

"Ya" she said, her face completely blank.

"Cool, uh bye" I said and ran off. This was great know that it wasn't Kara but it still annoyed me that I still didn't know who it is. I texted Nathan.

Dude, it wasn't Kara

That's great, but you still haven't found out who she is 

You know what Nate, I'm gonna leave it as a mystery
