Chapter Twenty-Eight

Alaia

**Nathaniel's POV**

Just after Lailah left I got a call from my mother. She said it was urgent but I couldn't help not caring about her problems, not now I have Lailah anyway.

So I slowly made my way over to the palace hoping I could put of seeing my mother for as long as possible. The few moments alone were short and I soon found myself at the porch steps about to walk inside when they ripped open in front of me.

I took a step back surprised at the woman who stood in front of me. The dark haired beauty who any man would fall for in a matter of a few seconds smiled pleasantly "Nathan dear, how nice to see you again" She said

Alaia Darcy, Royal princess of Sweden. Her family once shared the throne with us on the most powerful Royal family in the world.

"Alaia" I spoke courtly bowing my head slightly "I'm assuming your the urgent news mother was telling me about?"

She laughed "Your mother has made it quite clear I'm no longer welcome here"

Ever since her family's sins a couple hundred years ago my mother has condemned the rest of the surviving Darcy family. We used to all be great friends but I can't even recall the time I last saw Alaia it would be such a shame to just let her leave.

"No please ignore my mother" I said gesturing for her to come back inside

She hesitated "I really don't think-"

"I insist" I said

She sighed walking back inside as I shut the door behind us "I never could say no to you"

I smirked "No one ever can"

Alaia looked past me and I followed her gaze all the way to the top of the stairs

"Mother" I sighed as she walked down the stairs glaring straight at Alaia

"I thought I told you to leave" Mother said in a under toning voice

"Mother please" I said matching her tone

"Look Rosalinda I'll go ..." Alaia said about to bolt for the door but I stopped her with a look

"No you're staying" I insisted before turning back to mother "isn't she?"

Mother skulked down the stairs walking straight up to Alaia "I know what your doing Alaia" She sneered showing the tips of her fangs "and it's not going to work"

With those words mother span round and left the hallway walking straight into her office instead

I turned round to Alaia and said "sorry about her"

Alaia shrugged "used to it"

I nodded turning taking the first step in the direction of the library "coming?"

Alaia followed me into the library and I closed the door behind us with a slam.

She laughed looking impressed by the mass amount of books "Things haven't changed I see"

"Oh please" I scoffed "the last time I picked up one of these old dusty things was in 1988"

"You've given up reading?" She asked and I shrugged walking over to the drinks table and pouring both of us a glass of mothers finest wine

"Why, what do you do in your spare time?" She said as she accepted the glass

I sat down in the leather couch chair my eyes flickering to her with a small smile playing on my lips "let's just say I have other interests now" I said bringing the glass to

my lips

"Oh I am intrigued" She said taking the seat opposite me

"Now that would be telling" I said

She glared "Oh please, mysterious Nathaniel just does not do it for me"

"Well neither does mysterious Alaia" I glared back "Now while I'm sure you've missed my fabulous company I have a feeling there's are more bigger reason as to why you're here"

Alaia gave me a cautious look before glancing up at the ceiling "Never could hide anything from you could I?"

"What is it Alaia?" I questioned "are you in money problem again-"

"No, no, no" She shook her head "nothing like that"

"Then what?" I pushed

She sucked in a deep breath before finally saying "It's Frankie"

"Frankie?" I questioned "What's he done this time?"

Frankie's Alaia's older brother. He's the biggest idiot always getting himself into trouble with the Swedish population and was was the cause of the first Swedish revolution a couple of years ago.

"He's got himself in trouble with the Italians" Alaia sighed

"The Italians?" I asked wondering if I had heard right.

She nodded "he started messing around with the kings daughter and when she refused him he got angry sent over a bunch of our soldiers to attack"

Oh that's not good. Although my family may be the most powerful Royal Family we are defiantly not the most feared. The only reason we're the top Royals is because we've never had to face the Italians. They have there country whipped, we're angels compared to how they treat there humans.

"Look I know I shouldn't of come here, your the last person I want to get wrapped in my family's sh*t, but I have no one Nathaniel, there going to kill Frankie and possibly the rest of my family including me ..." Alaia pleaded

I sighed rubbing my forehead "so what would you want me to do?"

"Threaten them with an attack, they'll back down for sure" She nodded

"The Italians are crazy Alaia you know that" I said

Her hopeful expression dropped and I felt bad because this isn't her fault

"Look let me think about it ok?" I said standing up

Alaia nodded standing up too "ok"

I walked her out of the library and was surprised to find Abigail in the hallway holding a suitcase

"You're still here?" Abigail asked Alaia

"Never mind about that" I said stepping in "where are you going?"

Abigail shrugged "Just moving out"

"Just moving out?" I said "to where?"

She shrugged again "somewhere"

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked

"Ugh, stop being such a overprotective brother!" She said frowning "I'm not going far"

"But ..."

"But what?" She asked raising an eyebrow

I just sighed unable to think up a good reason for her to stay

Alaia grinned bumping next to me "they grow up so fast don't they"

I gave her a flat look "shut up"
