April 10, 1912

Mal and Evie walked through the crowded third class hallways, trying to find their room. They were able to get a room with another woman with her two children. The other two passengers went with other friends, in trade for a 10 dollars.

As they reached their room, Evie saw a man with some glasses and smiled at him before going into her room.

They found the woman and her children in it. The room was small but big enough for the five of them. One side had a bunk bed with a closet, the other had a bunk bed with a sink.

"Hello, nice to meet you," Mal said to the women while shaking her hand. "I'm Mal. This is my best friend, Evie, who may at times speak Spanish."

"Hello, I'm Beatrice Potts and these two are my children, Cora and Chip."

"It's a pleasure."

"Why is your name Mal?" Chip asked. Evie stopped unpacking and looked at her friend, who was a bit uncomfortable.

"Hey, why don't we go explore the ship?" Mal asked, avoiding the question she was asked.

"We still need to unpack, but you two can go on." Mrs. Potts said.

Evie and Mal walked out of the room, waving goodbye at their new friends. As the went through the hallways, Evie couldn't keep in her curiosity.

"Mal, why did you not answer the question, de tu nombre?"(, of your name?)

"It's just a nickname my mother gave me. She's very strict, which was one of the reasons why I ran away."

"Es por eso que vuelves a América?" (Is that why you are going back to America?)

"Yeah,"

It was quiet between the two, and Mal could not stop thinking about her mother. It'll be the first she'll see her in years. Would her mother understand why she left?

Adam was given a small tour of their living quarters by one of the stewards, a French man named Lumiere. His family was getting settled in, and Audrey taking out a few paintings.

"I'm looking for the one with the faces," Audrey said to Jane. Ben was in the sitting room with her, who was reading a book on the couch. Chad was sitting next to him, drinking champagne. A few of the workers helped them unpack, bringing in their luggage.

"Here it is." Audrey pulled out the painting. Ben looked it and smiled.

"That's one of my favorites," Ben said.

"Put that in there." Kit said to the employee, bringing in a few suitcases.

"Do you want all of them out, miss?" Jane asked.

"Yes," Audrey and Ben said together. Audrey then added, "this place could use some color."

"Not those finger paintings again." Bella groaned out. "They were a waste of money."

"The difference between my cousin's taste in art and mine is that I have some," Ben said while admiring the art. "They're incredible. There's truth but no logic, like a dream."

"Who painted them?" Jane asked.

"Something Picasso," Audrey said then took one of the paintings to the other room.

"He becomes anything," Bella said, taking a sip of her tea. "At least they were cheap."

Jane followed Audrey to her room, as Ben followed. Audrey looked around and placed the painting where the mirror was.

"Everything smells so new," Jane said with a smile while unpacking the suitcases. "Think about it. Tonight, when we crawled under the sheets of our beds, we'll be the first."

"I suppose it is a bit exciting," Audrey told her but frowned.

"Was it something I said?"

"No, not at all. It's just I've been thinking. I'm not sure about this marriage."

"You too?" Ben asked. Audrey nodded, and Ben sag on the bed.

"We'll have to do it, to support our families."

"Haven't you ever wondered what it would be like if we were living third class," Ben asked.

"A few times actually."

"Why would you ever think about them?" They all turned and saw Adam, leaning on the door frame. "They're just gutter rats living on this planet."

"Excuse me," Jane said, then left the room.

"They're just people who work hard to survive, while we just order people around," Ben told his father as he walked toward him.

"That's how things work!"

"Why can't that change?"

"This nonsense has to stop. You will marry Audrey, you will inherit my business and money and you will have a child!"

They stared at each other and Audrey was a bit frightened. Adam breathed heavily and so did Ben.

"I hope now we understand each other." His dad said while looking at both Ben and Audrey, and walking out the door.

A/N- I am using Google Translate for translation of English to Spanish. Some of the Spanish will be from what I know, but I'm still learning (despite the fact that my family speaks only Spanish. Long story.)

The part with Jane talking about them being the first was based on a deleted scene (video below)

I plan on having most of the deleted scenes added in, so this book may be longer than the other books that I've written.

Thanks For Reading ❤️❄️😎💚💐👻👻☃💜🐉🌹🔮🍎🐶🌺🌷🍓🍉
