Roommates

Chapter 13

"Lana, who is Justin?" Alex asked taking glances at the boy who just showed up.

"He is uh my uh Ex Friend/Ex boyfriend." I responded with hardly any emotion. "He's a dick."

"Lana please I-"

"Oh, I see," Alex said then stepped back not wanting to get in the middle of whatever was happening. He did stay a bit close though just to hear. Eavesdropper.

"Don't worry Alex nothing is happening between us. I promise. We were together 5 years ago. I moved and we broke up. He 'didn't want a long distance relationship.' So now I want nothing to do with him. I found out he cheated on me 2 years into our relationship. Then kept it a secret until I was right about to move away." I said and looked at Justin again. He was now closer than before. You can also thank him for the trust issues.

"Lana, that is you!" Justin yelled causing people to look at us. A second reason why it was a good idea to break up with him was that he couldn't keep a secret. Or whisper he couldn't whisper. I went behind Alex trying to not get attention. And hit my face in annoyance. Also thinking about how dumb Justin was because he just realized that it was me.

"Can you ever be quiet?" I glared.

"It's ok Lana. I won't let him hurt you." Alex said assuringly. I just nodded. Wait why is he helping me. I stood up straight and stepped away from Alex.

"Lana. Oh my god, I haven't seen you in forever." He said with a fake ass smile. Which I returned with one too. I can play this game too.

"Yeah, you kind of broke my heart when I had to move away." I said quietly but enough for only us to hear. 

"I am so sorry Lana. I don't know what I was thinking." He said and ran his hand through his hair like he did when we were teens. 

"So who is this?" He turned to Alex and raised a brow.

"Oh, this is-"

"My name is Alex and I am just her friend and roommate...for now." He said and mumbled the last part but I heard loud and clear and I think he knew that.

"Yeah." I said not making eye contact with him.

"They let boys and girls be roommates in college?" Justin asked like he didn't believe a word Alex just said.

"Yeah, they do," Alex replied. "And I'm lucky enough to have her. She is a great roommate."

Justin snorted, "She's probably sucking you."

"She isn't" "I'm not!"

"No need to lie. Anyway, I was wondering if we could catch up sometime Lana. It has been five months." He said with hope in his voice and another fake ass smile. I do not trust him one bit. He literally just accused me of sucking Alex.

"Yeah, it has been a while. But it has also been 8 years since you cheated on me multiple times. So I think that'll be a no. Come on Alex I think someone." I glared at Justin, "ruined our fun evening." I said walking out of the water. I walked over to my towel and dried off quickly. I saw Alex doing the same. I slipped my flip flops on and then walked straight to the car. I got in the car and just sat there.

"Ok, where to now Lana?" Alex asked as he started the car.

"Dinner?" I asked and looked over at Alex for his answer.

"Sounds good what do you want to ear?"

"McDonalds? We go home change then we go, and I am paying." I said as he started the car.

"But-"

"No, but's I am paying."

"Bu-fine" then he started driving.

"So are you ok?" Alex asked and glanced over at me.

I nodded, "Yeah why wouldn't I be?" I asked.

"I don't know just because you saw your ex and all that. I know what it's like. Seeing an ex after a while. Brings back memories doesn't it?"

"Oh yeah. No, I am fine just a bit weirded out and angry he tried to talk to me again."

"Oh well he seemed like an ok guy"

"Yeah, that is what I thought too."

"Hmm?"

"Well when I told him I was moving. He didn't take it too well. I thought he'd understand and maybe consider some sort of relationship still."

"Well how did he take it?"

FLASHBACK

"Uh Justin I need to talk to you." I said nervously.

"What is it, Lana. You never call me Justin unless it is something important." He said looking concerned.

"I'm uh moving," I said quietly.

"What!? You are moving? No. You are staying here"

"I tried to talk to my parents but they said no."

"No, you didn't you are lying you want to leave."

"I am not lying they said I couldn't. I tried, I really tried Justin."

"Yeah right." He scoffed.

"You don't believe me. After 5 years together, you still don't trust me." I said angry now.

"You're right, I don't because you obviously want to leave."

"No I don't! I want to be with you."

"Well, I don't want to be with someone who lies."

"I'm not lying," I said and walked away even angrier.

"By the way I cheated on you after our 2 year anniversary. You bitch." He yelled.

FLASHBACK ENDS

"Oh I am so sorry Lana. He didn't deserve you anyway. You deserve so much better."

"Don't say sorry, it wasn't your fault. There was nothing you could have down to stop that."

"Yeah ok but I still feel bad. Anyway, we are back here. I'll buy you ice cream to help you feel better."

I nodded, "When did we get here?"

"About around the part where he was calling you a liar."
