"Lana, we are here." I heard my mom softly say. I groaned, annoyed that someone had interrupted my sleep. I raised my arms and stretched with my eyes still closed. I must've slept most of the time cause I don't remember a damn thing.

"You have to check-in around 30 minutes from now." She informed me as she parked. I sat up and unbuckled when the car stopped. My hands patted the surrounding area for my phone. Once I found it, I checked the time.

"I am just going to walk around. Be back in 20 minutes." I said as I slipped my shoes back on. When I got out of the car, I looked around to get an idea of where I was now and then started walking.

After a bit of walking, I got nowhere. Everywhere looked the same. Trees, roads, and more trees. I decided to just head back to the car. When I got back, I saw my mom checking her watch sitting in the front seat. When she saw me, she got out of the car closing the door behind her.

"Where were you?" She walked over to me with that pissed mom look. "it doesn't matter come on. They'll let you in five minutes early I'm sure." Without waiting for my response she started walking to the main building. When we walked in, there was a nice lady standing in the main office.

"Hello," The lady smiled and walked over to us. "Welcome to Silverstone College."

"Hi, I am Jessica Landon and this is my daughter Lana Landon. We are here for her to check-in." My mom said. The woman nodded and led us to a counter.

"Wonderful, I hope you had a safe trip up here. It is a pleasure to have you. I am Mrs.Cordell. I am the main professor. Or the principal. Doesn't matter what you would like to label me as." She smiled.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Cordell," I said and shook her hand.

"So we have your schedule, room key, and ID Card." Mrs. Cordell informed as she handed me everything.

"Thank you," I took the things from her and held them in one hand.

"Your welcome, I believe your roommate is either there already or will be there in five minutes." Mrs. Cordell said as she checked her watch. I nodded.

"Well thank you for everything," I repeated. She nodded smiling and started walking back into her office.

"Ok well, Lana I need to get going soon. I have to be at work later tomorrow." She said as she opened the trunk of the car. I nodded understanding. Once all of my bags were out of the car, I knew my mother had to leave.

Being a single mom takes work, so she is going extra hours to earn more money. I mean we aren't broke, but we aren't stinkin' rich. We do have enough money to survive. I worked during high school for a bit so she wouldn't have to go to work as much.

"That's fine, wish me luck?" I said as I closed the trunk. I'll need all the luck I can get.

"Good luck honey. I am sorry I can't stay longer. Don't do anything illegal. I love you," she hugged me tightly. "I can't believe my baby girl-"

"Mom c'mon now. We are in the parking lot." She just laughed and kissed my forehead before we separated.

"I love you too." She wiped a tear out from under her eye and sniffled.
"ok," she took a deep breath. "ok I'm going I'm going I swear." we both laughed and hugged one last time before she finally got into the car. I watched her start the car and drive off. I didn't move until I saw her go around the corner. Once she did, I picked up everything and started walking to my dorm.

I was on the second floor of three, and my room number was 265. I made my way to the elevator and no one was around. Wow, they must all be doing something because the hallways are very empty. You could hear a pin drop. Literally.

I reached the second floor and walked down the hallway 263...264...265. I put my room key in and opened the door.

Wow, this is great. A mini kitchen, a small living room with a flat-screen tv, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

"Hello?" A voice said from one of the bedrooms. Oh, that must be my roommate. I can't wait to meet her. Her voice is a bit manly though.

"Hi?" I asked and looked around trying to find out where the voice was coming from. I heard footsteps and looked up at he-. Wait it is a he! He?

"Uhh hi?"

"Whoa, no one told me my roommate was a girl." He said and walked up to me. "A hot one too." He mumbled under his breath. Obviously, he isn't that good at it. Where is my pepper spray when I need it?

"Well, I didn't know my roommate was a boy." I crossed my arms and walked around him to start looking around the place.

"Okay," He said drawing out the 'y'. "Well, what's your name?" He asked And followed me.

"It's Lana," I answered turning around looking at him, and then backing up away from him.

"Well Lana, I'm Alex." He said and got a bit closer. Again I back up. Ever heard of personal space. Obviously, he hasn't.

"Ok, I don't know who you are so before you get any closer we have to know each other better." He nodded. "Where is my bedroom? I'm sure you already picked." I walked down a hallway which I assume is the way to the bedrooms.

"Your room is the one on the right." He pointed to a closed door and then went to sit on the couch.

"Ok thank you." I picked up all or most of my things and brought them into the room. It was a nice room, needs a little Lana touch, but we can work with it. I started unpacking my stuff into the drawers and closet.

"Jesus you're like every other girl in this world." I jumped at the sound of his voice.

"What?" I asked and glanced over at him. He was leaning against the door frame. I swear I shut that door.

"You have tons of unnecessary clothes, but I can't really complain because other clothes make you look hot." He licked his lips. I shut the second drawer and moved to the third one. I put the rest of my things in the drawer.

"You're weird," I said as I closed the drawer. Then I put my bags and suitcases away in the closet. I left my room closing the door behind me. I walked out into the living and took a seat on the couch. Of course, he followed me.

I went on my phone and scrolled through Instagram a bit. He came a few seconds later and sat next to me.

"So Lana tell me about yourself." He looked over at me. I lifted my head up and looked at him then back at my phone.

"This isn't a Tinder date."

"I never said it was."

"You're making it seem like one."

"I can't get to know my roommate?" I sighed and turned off my phone. I set it on my lap and faced him.

"What do you want to know?"
