He Loves Me,He Loves Me Not ~ Chapter 24

Charl's POV

Ross handed the last two tickets over to the man in the booth.

I'm really excited,I've never been on a Ferris wheel before, it looks amazing!

"Got ants in your pants?" Ross asks.

"Huh?" I cluelessly reply.

"Your jiggling about a lot, you ok?"

I look down at my feet and notice that they are shuffling along the floor.

"Oh yeah..." I feel myself start to blush. "I'm just so excited,I've never been on one before!"

"I'm glad your first time on a Ferris wheel will be with me then!" Ross grins.

Ross instantly stops grinning and his face is as white as snow.

"Ross are you ok?" I start to ask "I mean you look like you've just seen a ghost..."

"Me? I'm fine! Just a little nervous."

"Nervous? About what?"

"Nervous wether or not you'll enjoy the Ferris wheel with my company..."

"Of course I will! Your great company."

"We're next!" Ross smiles.

The man leads Ross and I to a seat and pulls the safety bar down locking us in together.

"Woo!" I giggle as the wheel starts to move.

The Ferris wheel goes round a few times but then stops at the top.

"Why'd it stop?" I nervously ask.

"It does occasionally,don't be scared, it's not broken!" Ross replied.

Ross pulls me onto his lap and I kiss him sweetly on his nose.

"Can I ask you something?" Ross's voice shook.

"Sure" I wink.

"Will you be my um girl------" Ross question got cut off by his phone ringing.

I can't forget about you was playing. 

Catchy ringtone if I should say so myself.

"Sorry." Ross mouthed as he answered his phone.

Having nothing to do I decided to eavesdrop on his conversation.

"Hello?"

"Hi Ross, this is your boss." A man with a gruff voice said, atleast it sounded like that.

"Oh um hi sir!"

"Where are you? It's really loud?"

"I'm at the carnival at the moment"

"With your family?"

"Yeah and Charl!"

"Charl?" The man asked,I assumed he wanted to know who I was.

"Yeah,my bestfriend..."

"The blonde one?"

"Yup that's her."

"Oh,the Coss shippers were going crazy over that Instagram photo you posted."

"Yeah,they're crazy like that!" Ross chuckled

I wasn't really interested in the rest of the conversation until Ross started talking again.

"I love Laura, Charlie is just a friend. I'd never be her boyfriend we don't work like that. There may be pictures of us kissing or hugging but they're only edits. Laura is my one and only." Ross enthusiastically said.

Those words destroyed me.

They made me feel worthless.

Cold crystal clear tears run down my cheeks and splash onto my pink top.

How could he.

I thought we had something.

Obviously not.

"How could you?" I manage to choke out

"Charl, I um let me explain!" Ross shouted ending the call and placing a hand on my face,wiping away a tear.

His hand sent a horrible shiver down my spine.

I thought he loved me.

Or at least had the freaking decency to put me down easily.

"Get off me!" I screamed

The ferris wheel starts moving again and the man who owns the ride unhooks the safety bar.

I get up and run.

I can hear footsteps behind me but I don't stop to see who's following me.

I run away from Ross.

From the carnival.

I run away from everything.

After what feels like a marathon I slow down and stop running.

I catch my breath and take in the scenery. I'm at a beautiful lake with lilly-pads dotted around on top of the water.

I look around and see a tall blonde figure.

It better not be Ross...

"Hey!" Riker smiles walking over to me.

"Hi" I said slowly before crying into Rikers checked shirt.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Riker whispered while kissing me softly on the head.

"R-r-oss." Is all I can manage to blurt out before my legs had given up on me.

Me, the pathetic girl who didn't notice that her bestfriend didn't love her.

Why would he anyway?

I'm nothing special...
