I woke up, still thinking about what happened.
Charles. Charles Lee. Oh my God, Angelica.
I tried to keep it out of my mind.
I started making myself breakfast: toast and some strawberry jam, a blueberry muffin, and some milk.
The blood. The bruises.
I sat down and took a bite of my toast. Dad was on a trip. Angelica was sleeping in. Peggy was with friends.
It was a whole month ago. Angelica still had the scars.
Angelica walked down the stairs and made herself some plain toast and got a glass of water. She sat down without a word.
She barely spoke anymore.
We sat in silence, lost in our thoughts.
She didn't even speak in class.
She took a bite of toast.
She didn't even try out for the play.
We locked eyes.
I was worried about her.
