Eliza Schuyler- That Would Be Enough

I saw Alexander coming towards me.
"Hi." I said.
"Hi."
"What was that?" I asked.
"What was what?"
"That? With John Laurens?"
"I was helping him with Space Inva-"
"I saw how he was looking at you."
"What?"
"You heard me." Alexander shifted uncomfortably.
"Um, okay, but, um, I didn't mean, um, anything by it, um, I was just helping him with his game."
"If I could share a fraction of your time on this date, that would be enough." I looked at him sincerely.
"Of course! This is us! John Laurens was a surprise. It'll be our day, though."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
He kissed me right then and there, in front of Ms. Pac-Man, and I believed him. I heard running footsteps. When we finally pulled away and decided to leave, John was nowhere to be found.
