Kunot ang noo ni Harry pagpasok niya sa kotse niya.

"Good morning, Lord Commander!" bati ko at pinasadahan siya ng tingin. He's wearing his usual sleeves and slacks. He looks very jump-worthy, but I know it's the hormones reacting again so I restrained. Nangangati rin ang kamay kong kunin 'yung cellphone ko para kunan siya ng picture. But I restrained.

I sighed. I always hold back. I didn't know that I have this talent in holding back.

Ngumiti ako nang sumulyap siya sa'kin. Pero ang bilis niyang binawi 'yung mata niya.

"I can go alone," sabi niya.

Ang cute talaga ng lalaking 'to. Nagsasabi ng gusto niya pero hindi nakatingin sa'kin.

I ignored his statement. Ipinakita ko sa kanya ang folder ng documents na hinihingi ng pharmacy at ang portable storage drive ng reports.

"I have the documents they need. I know the contents, too. So, if we need to discuss with them thoroughly, I know what to say."

"I can discuss with them. Alone."

I looked at him directly in the eye. "You know what, Dr. Lastimosa, I'm not going to give you a surprise kiss today. So, don't insist on going alone."

Kumunot ang noo niya at namula na naman. I also felt fire spread from my face to my ears.

Good grief! Am I blushing, too?

"I'm not worried about kissing," he said, almost hissing. "I'm..."

"You're blushing," sabi ko. Picture-an ko na kaya?

"This isn't because of anything untoward—"

"I know. You're uncomfortable, right? Look at me. I'm uncomfortable, too."

Pinagala niya ang mata niya sa'kin. Lalo kong naramdaman ang init sa mukha ko. Nagbaba ako ng tingin.

"Don't complicate this anymore," sabi ko.

Nagbuga siya ng hangin. I saw his long fingers tapping at the wheel.

"Hindi lang naman laging ikaw ang iniisip ko, Harry. I think about work, too." I swallowed. "This is work."

"I guess..."

Namatay lahat ng salita sa pagitan namin.

"How did you get my car keys?" he asked.

Ngumiti ako sa kanya. "H-L-zero-eight-zero-five. Change your locker's passcode if you like."

The corners of his mouth twitched a little. Akala ko, ngingiti siya. Pero nagbaling siya ng tingin sa labas ng kotse.

Tsk. Can't he smile? Hindi ko pa uli nakikita ang ngiti niya. Nakaabang ang hormones ko.

"Let's go. Mali-late tayo sa meeting," sabi ko na lang sa kanya at inilahad ang palad kong may susi. "Car keys."

Kinuha niya ang susi at binuhay ang makina ng sasakyan.

I breathed deeply when he started driving. I smiled realizing he's wearing his cologne. This was his scent when we slept raining; when he insisted to stay beside me.

Whether he realized it or not, kontento na 'ko sa ganito—'yung malapit ako sa kanya kahit na ayaw niya 'kong tingnan. Being in the same small space with him gives me comfort. Hindi naman ako isang babae lang na nagmamahal sa kanya. He was a friend before I confessed. He was someone who helped me got through a night of thunders.
