Chapter 41: Tonight

"I don't have to"

"Jace, go"

"I don't want to leave you guys"

Sighing, I looked down at Maisy asleep in my arms. "It's only a few hours"

"I barely am ever home when I work Em"

"You've been off a week, I'm sure they need you."

He sat down next to me on the couch. "I still need to help out here"

"I can handle Maisy by myself you know"

"I'm not worried about you taking care of Maisy."

"Then what's the problem?!"

"I'm worried about you being able to take care of yourself"

I glanced at him confused

"It's only been two weeks and you've lost so much weight that your smaller than you were before you were pregnant."

"And?"

"You haven't eaten anything since she was born Emily. You look sick."

"I have too eaten... I've just been busy"

"So let me stay home... another week or so"

"No Jace"

"Yes-"

"I kinda need you to trust me here"

He sighed and placed his hand gently on the top of Maisy's head "I do trust you"

"No you obviously don't"

"I do I just, I'm just worried..."

I stood up and placed Maisy in the crib I had drug out into the living room from our room earlier.

Stepping around Jaces legs I sat myself on his lap to face him.

"Just relax" I placed my hands on his shoulders "Go to work, I can handle it"

He ignored me and wrapped his hands around my waist, pulling me closer to rest his chin on my shoulder.

"I'll go to work. But you have to promise to eat... I'm worried about you" he whispered through the quiet room

I pulled away to look at him "I will"

"Promise"

"Shut up" I placed my lips on his gently

"Emily" he mumbled

"Hmm"

"We haven't..." he traced his fingers up the back of my sweatshirt "done things in a while"

I smiled and got off of him, grabbing his hands "go to work Jace"

He sighed and stood up, wresting his arms on my shoulders. "Being a mom has made you boring"

I smiled. Im a mom.

"I'm just busy"

He rolled his eyes and rested his forehead on mine

"Go to work" I mumbled

"I will" he paused "Or, I can stay here and we could..."
