HOPE'S POV

I kept playing the song my mom left me. It sounded familiar. I played it again; I was sitting in the living room. Aunt Rebekah was there. Before playing it I asked her "Auntie Bex, do you mind listening to this song and telling me where you heard it. Before I played it of course." She smiled to me and said "Sure." She sat on the couch and I sat on the table in front of her and strummed as I sang:

Caterpillar in the tree

How you wonder who you'll be

Can't go far but you can always dream

Wish you may and wish you might

Don't you worry, hold on tight

I promise you that there will come a day

Butterfly fly away

Butterfly fly away, butterfly fly away

Got your wings now, you can't stay

Take those dreams and make them all come true

Butterfly fly away, butterfly fly away

You've been waiting for this day

All along and known just what to do

Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly, butterfly fly away

Butterfly fly away,

Butterfly fly away!

She smiled to me with a small tear going down her cheek. She said "That is the song that your mother taught all of one time when we were in a very hard place. But it is also the song your father used to sing to you when you were scared or you cried or sad. Where did you get it?" I smile now remembering where I heard it from.

*Flashback*

I was about 7 and a thunderstorm was going on outside while I was in the bed trying to sleep. I heard a big crash and scream sitting straight up. The I heard the door open and light pour into my room. My daddy was standing by the window in a second. "Yes it is getting extremely bad out there."He states then he turns and sees me in tears. "What's wrong, Little one?" He asked then I replied "Daddy, I'm scared." He sat next to me on the bed and said "Well when I get scared." He started but I interrupted him. "You get scared, daddy?" My dad was the strongest man I ever knew. He replied "All the time. but don't tell your Uncles or Aunts." I smiled glad that daddy and me had another secret to share. He smiled and continued his statement. "When I get scared, I sing a song." I smile to him and ask "What song?" He said "One that someone taught me long ago. Would you like to hear it?" I nodded. He sang:

Caterpillar in the tree

How you wonder who you'll be

Can't go far but you can always dream

Wish you may and wish you might

Don't you worry, hold on tight

I promise you that there will come a day

Butterfly fly away

Butterfly fly away, butterfly fly away

Got your wings now, you can't stay

Take those dreams and make them all come true

Butterfly fly away, butterfly fly away

You've been waiting for this day

All along and known just what to do

Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly, butterfly fly away

*end of flashback*

"My mother" I stated with a tear running down my cheek. She put her hand on my back and said "He loves you, Hope. He just never wanted to hurt her either. You are his princess, and he never wanted her to leave you. She certainly didn't want to leave now." A tear came down my other eye. "I know." I state then finish "It still hurts just the same." Then got up and grabbed my guitar then went up stairs. I felt betrayed by both my mother and father. I didn't know what to do and couldn't take it anymore. I cried sitting on my bed. When I heard "They didn't want it to be like this neither of them." I looked up and saw my Uncle Damon. When did he get here? I state "Then why is it? Why is my mother gone, again? and why did my father make her leave the first time?" He looked pained as he said "Your mother, my sister, didn't exactly tell me why she left but she promised me that she would come back. If I know your mother at all, she always keeps her promises." He smiled to me then continued. "As for your dad, I know he loves you. I know because the plan when you were born was to give you to your Aunt Rebekah for her to raise but when your dad held you after compelling your mother, he couldn't let go. He told Rebekah that she could come live with him but he would be there for your entire life."

I looked at Uncle Damon with shock on my face. "I was supposed to somewhere else?" He nodded. I smiled knowing that both of my parents haven't betrayed me. My father loves me and so does my mother, at least I think she does.
