Chapter 24 training

(Chloe)

I awoke in a room. A large room. I groaned as I sat up. Where was I? "How ya feelin'?" someone asked. I looked up to find my older brother Percy. "I feel like....bleh." I said slumping over. "You're in the infirmary. Hopefully your all rested up in an hour or so." he said. "Why?" I asked. "Because we have only 18 hours to get you back to the kingdom."

"What!? That fast!? Percy, I don't think we can get there in time. I don't know if we'll make it! I can't train within that time! I'm not going to-" "Chloe, calm down. Trust me, everything will be fine." Percy said putting his hand on my shoulder.

I took a deep breath. "Well, I'm awake now." I said standing up. I fell to my knees instantly. "Woah, careful." Percy said helping me up. "Thanks." I mumbled. "Take it easy for the next hour. I'll get you some ambrosia." he said walking away. I wanted to protest, but I realized how much pain I was in. I sighed and shut my eyes.

"Chloe. Your ambrosia." he said as my eyes fluttered open. Percy was holding a piece of ambrosia for me to nibble on. I ate it slowly. It tasted like the cake me and my younger sister Tia would make for special occasions. I wonder how Tia's doing these days. After I ate the ambrosia, I lay back down. "Rest up. I'll wake you up in an hour." he said. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

A dream. Of course, within one hour, I had a dream. I was swimming to the kingdom when a huge selkhine took out Poseidon. "Dad!" I screamed. He wrestled the selkhine until it disappeared. My dad was shaking and beat up. "Ah, hello Chloe. I haven't seen you around in quite a while. Be careful though, dangerous creatures are yet to come." he said as a giant squid jumped out of nowhere.

I swam away but it followed me. Soon enough, it wraped it's body around me. I gasped for air as I struggled to break free. "Percy! Dad! Help!" I screamed. The tentacles tightened and black spots danced around my vision. I closed my eyes as my body went limp.

"Percy! Percy!" I awoke screaming my brother's name. "Hey, Chloe, calm down. It was just a dream." he said putting his hand on my shoulder. I hugged him tight. "Why don't we get some training dome now, ok?" he asked. I nodded and slowly got out of bed. My legs wobbled and I started to collapse when Percy caught me. "Careful." he said. We slowly walked out of the infirmary.

I squinted at the sunlight. It felt kinda good to be back at camp half-blood. "So, where do we start?" I asked. "Well, your definitely in no condition for combat. Let's start at archery." Percy suggested. I nodded as we headed to the archery range. There were a few people from the Artemis and Apollo cabin shooting arrows precisely.

I walked over and held the large bow. "So....how do I shoot?" issued Percy. He shrugged. "Well that helps." I grumbled. "He's useless sometimes. Don't worry, I know." said a girl coming up from behind us. "Thalia!" Percy said in excitement. "Hey kelp head." she said. "Hey! This is my sister Chloe!" he said. I waved and smiled. "Hey, Chloe. I've heard a lot about you!" she said.

"How?" Percy asked stealing the words out of my mouth. "Wise girl." Thalia said pointing behind her. "Hey seaweed brain. What's up?" a girl with curly blond hair asked walking towards us. "Can I ask you something?" I asked Percy. "Sure." he shrugged. "Why does everybody here call you fishy names?"

Percy smiled. "I personally don't know. Ask Annabeth. She started it." Percy said pointing to the blond haired girl. "I'm Annabeth. Been here ever since I was 7." she said holding out her hand. "Chloe." I said shaking it. "You wanna know why I call him seaweed brain? Because I swear it has nothing inside it's head but seaweed." she laughed. "The it has a name ya know." Percy said.

"Pull back and release." Thalia said. I aimed for the target and pulled back the string of my bow. "Release it!" Thalia said. I let go and the arrow went flying across the yard. It finally hit the bullseye with a thud. "Nice work Chloe!" Annabeth said. I smiled. "Not bad. Not bad at all. You should consider becoming a hunter of Arte-" "No Thalia. She's a daughter of Poseidon and that's that." Percy said.
