"I'll get back to you on that." Those words. Those seven words. They just kept echoing inside of her head. Maya had finally summoned up enough courage to ask out Riley Matthews on a real date, just to have those seven words sitting in her stomach as deadweight. Maya didn't know what to do with herself, it was all out of her hands now. She was left, sitting alone with only her thoughts. She kept second guessing her actions, was she too forward? Was it the wrong time? Replaying the scene in her head wasn't helping either, every time Riley's expression changed. Maya has lost track of Riley's really reaction, was she happy? Angry? Sad? Confused? The weight Maya felt was only increasing, and the longer she waited, the heavier it grew. Maya was mentally replaying Riley's reaction (for what was probably the four hundred and eighty seventh time that day) when Riley herself wandered in. The "Yes" hadn't even had its chance to resonate in the room before it was replaced with the "Oomph!" Riley made when Maya crashed their lips together. And in that moment, Maya felt weightless.
