"Thank-you Nean. For bringing them back here. I know it would have been difficult of you to choose to do this or not. Wondering if I might tell your parents. I promise I wont."

"Thanks Pat. I had better let you get back to bed and everything. Janie Jenks isn't on the trip this year is she?"

"She sure is. Third door on the left down the hall. I don't mind closing my eyes for a couple of minutes either if you would like to go out and get a coffee with her. I know it must be hard on you being separated from all your friends like this. There's a star bucks three blocks to the left of the main doors."

"Thanks Pat. I might see you at the end of the year some time, if I get a chance to come back and visit and stuff."

"Sure thing Nean. Take care of yourself wont you?"

With that he wrapped his large aging arms around me and pulled my in for a tight hug before returning to his room.

I quietly tip toed down the hall till I reached the third door on the left. Testing the door knob I was pleased to find it unlocked. As quietly as I could I slid into the room and over to the bed I assumed to be Janie’s. With a startling leap followed my a wild scream from Janie I launched myself onto her and her bed.

"Hey Janie how’s life?"

A terrified, shaking Janie pulled the covers back from her head revealing a grand view of those wide brilliant blue eyes I had grown so familiar with over my childhood.

"Nean? What the fuck are you doing here? My god. What the hell? Is that really you or am I dreaming."

"It's nice to know I'm good enough to dream about Janie Baby. Now put some clothes on we're going to Starbucks."

"We're not aloud."

"Oh don't worry about Pat. He's the one who told me to take you there. Now get up. Come on. Come on, come on." I pulled lazily at her arm attempting to drag her from the warm soft bed.

"Of course he did. He always loved you. Okay, okay. I’m up, I'm up." I launched at her again with a girlish giggle and a well missed hug.

Returning back to my hotel room in the not so early hours of the morning proved to be an ever so difficult task as for some absurd reason the usual hotel assistant with the key to the elevators appeared to be A.W.O.L and I was forced to climb all thirteen floors to my room. A task I did not particularly enjoy. Coffee with Janie had been particularly informative as to the happenings of my previous school. A lot had happened in the last few months since I had left.

After my leaving Jace had got with Daisy, only to be dumped a couple of weeks later when she decided she would much rather be dating Graham Knight. My favorite art teacher, whom I always knew was a bit of a weirdo, was arrested for dealing drugs. Year twelve’s had been banned from leaving the school during school hours and Cameron Diego had left school to join the cast of an Australian soap opera.

Attempting to get as much sleep as possible before the unenviable happened and my mother knocked on the door telling me to get up to catch our flight I quickly fell into a deep sleep dreaming happy thoughts about how Jace still loved me.
