I was covered with dust. Through my ringing ears, I heard a scream: unable to tell if it was near or far.
Wherever it was, it soon fell silent as the ringing of my ears fully took control as the light began to fade.
I was unable to move.
Speak.
Function.
I felt my eyes focus through the dust and had to blink several times before I realised who these four people were; the four people who had just blown a huge hole in the side of …our… I mean… my motel room. I let my head lull on my neck for a few rotations in the joint before my brain began a rather delayed reaction. By now, they were surrounding me on all sides: the faceless non-identifiable killers that we surely here to end me.
I picked up the nearest thing to hand that I could see through the thick curtain of dust: the one thing that lay between them and me… me and god knows what.
