Preparation that night was a flurry of cleaners and movers that were willing to defer sleep for a little cash.

Because I didn't know what he liked and what he didn't, I decided to stick to neutral. Unfortunately, neutral came in different shades.

Fortunately, I was able to get his favourite nurse, Maggie to come put in her two cents. Her two cents ended up being a million bucks.

By the time she was done, our little army of now acclaimed interior designers had a smile along side the stress lines on their faces.

Me, I was just ecstatic to know that in a few hours he would be in the same house as I.

"You should let him know how much you care." Maggie states, pulling me out of my bubble.

I must have given her the 'What do you mean' look because she replies soon after.

"You wear your joy on your face. It makes it hard to miss."

"I hope he can grow to feel the same way about you." She says solemnly, her understanding of her words fast beyond mine.

Though there were many responses to choose from in my head as a retort to her words, I chose silence.

I was setting myself up for heartbreak.
