Chapter 1: For You.
"Girl, if you don't shut the fuck up and get over here I will literally find you and kill you." Her chuckle vibrated through my phone as she told me to chill and quickly hung up on me.
I pulled my phone away in horror and threw it on my sofa. "That little hoe hung up on me." I couldn't help but to mutter as I walked into my kitchen and stopped in front of the fridge for some food.
I quickly grabbed an energy drink along with some cut up pineapple and jumped up on the counter happily sipping and stuffing my face until my best friend showed up. After finishing up, I threw away my trash and made my way to the bathroom as my stomach reminded me of what I needed to do.
Just as I was finishing and washing my hands, my best friend bursted through my apartment I rolled my eyes, wiped my hands and walked out.
"Bitch what are you wearing?" I raised an eyebrow and glanced down. "Clothes?" It was her turn to roll her eyes and push me slightly. "Yeah, but not appropriate one's for the club." I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "Girl, you know, I really don't wanna go out."
My best friend threw her body against my couch, automatically slumping in her seat with a sigh. "Bitch, when you gonna get over yourself? You deserve to go out, I mean in the past year and a half you've only been out with us like five times tops." I rolled my eyes and sat down next to her.
"We miss you." She pouted to me as she threw her hands around my shoulders and pulled me against her. I laughed in her shoulder and pulled back. "Belle, you know I love you and Jake so so so so much, but I don't know, with work and school, shits tiring." I chuckled lightly and she nodded understanding.
"You hate, Jake?" Her eyes narrowed on me and I just rolled my eyes. She wasn't wrong but she wasn't right either, I just was simply pissed I couldn't get my way.
I stood from the couch with a slight yawn as I checked the time. "Girl, you have to go out there and start putting yourself on the market."
"I'm not on the market." I snapped getting defensive. Seeing the hurt expression cast on to my best friend's face made my heart ache for her. Sighing, I pulled her up and wrapped my arms tightly over her shoulders.
"I'm sorry, you just know it's a sensitive subject to me." She nodded and pulled back and I knew she wanted to say something, but I wouldn't let her. She just doesn't get, I'm not ready to move on.
"One day, he'll come back. He has to." My eyes glassed over as I finally made up my bipolar mind and I gave her a smile before I whispered. "When he comes back, he has to know, I have waited every single day for the past two years for him to show up, hell even for a phone call, but he never came back. Fuck, Belle. Everyone seems to know where he's at." She gave me a pointed look trying to interfere but I held up my hand.
"Don't cover for him. I know Jake keeps in contact with him." I smiled sadly as salt dripped down and on my upper lip. Quickly wiping that away, I pushed back the pent up feelings and patted my best friends knee distracting myself from looking at her pity filled eyes.
"Lets go out then, yeah?" She gaped at me, "Yeah?" She questioned and I grinned. "Yup." I got up and walked to my room before walking to the closet and pressing my eyes tightly shut. When I opened my eyes I saw my baby sleeping soundly on the bed and smiled softly to myself.
"Hey, boy." His eyes opened and I was left staring at his one blue and one brown eye. His tongue spilled out of his mouth and his tail wagged at the sight of me. I giggled as I walked over to the bed and sat beside him.
After a little while of sitting with my baby, I decided I should probably start getting ready. I pulled out an outfit that should be decent enough.
I pulled off my shirt and in the mirror I glanced down to my hip bone where my tattoo laid. It was an ace of spades card with H.A.R printed on the top. Belle had thought it was sweet up until I had explained the meaning of the spades to her.
Clearing my mind, I pulled over my top and zipped up my tight black jeans and my bootie heels. Shortly after I was finishing up my make up, I heard a knock at the door and Belle's muffled voice along with what I assumed to be Jake and everyone else. I suddenly started to feel jittery as it's been nearly almost a year and a half since I've seen Jake and 'the gang'.
I walked out of my room, with Charlie tailing close behind me, he was a catahoula pitbull mix, once he saw everyone, he quickly pushed me out of the way in which I protested against. "Hey!" I spun around as my puppy barked happily at the company.
Once Tyler saw Charlie though he screamed like a girl and jumped on top of Connor, Jake's brother. I rolled my eyes and whistled for Charlie to stop jumping. He obeyed and sat looking up at them with a wagging tail.
"Hey, guys." I replied with a short wave and that caused everyone to look up at me with sympathetic glances and sadness welled up in their eyes.
I bet they felt bad for me, for being so stupid for falling for their untrustworthy friend. Pushing away thoughts that tended to resurface a lot, I heard another girly yell and then a familiar blonde pushing through the sea of boys.
"Guys, move! I. Want. To. See. Her." Her voice sounded strangled as she pushed through the muscular boys and soon she fell from them and stepped in front of me. I was grinning with amusement as she looked up at me.
"Layne! I missed you so much!" Tayla threw her arms around my shoulders and pulled me into her body, I laughed as I hugged her body tightly to mine, because I really did miss her too.
"How've you been?" She pulled me back by the shoulders and I shrugged with a closed-mouth smile. "Busy, and yourself?" She shrugged, "Finishing high school, about to start college like you guys." I grinned and pulled her against me again. "That is so cool, I'm so proud."
Thoughts about what I missed started to spur around my head and I honestly did feel bad. I shut all these amazing people out all because I was feeling bad for myself. I have been selfish this whole time. Instead of worrying about myself this whole time, I should've been focused on living my life.
It's time to move on and be happy. He's gone, and he's not coming back and it's time to stop dwelling on it. I loved him and he broke me, but I do believe I can love again, so as I glanced around at all my friends I had missed for so long I grinned.
"Lets go get shit-faced drunk and be dumb teenagers." They all cheered with determination at my suggestion and soon we were piling out of my apartment and to the club with fake I.Ds and every intention on blacking out and not remembering who we are.
"Shit." I cussed loudly and stopped before we moved too far from my apartment. Before they could questioned I said, "hang on." Then running back into my apartment, I called for Charlie, grabbed his harness and leash.
I quickly slipped him in and grabbed the leash having his hyper ass drag me back to my friends. "First, I have to take, Charlie, somewhere." They nodded and then, we were off to drop my baby off at his little puppy sitter.
Hopefully, she won't be mad about the short notice, and no phone call.
