silky, smooth, light,
vibrant, radiant, colorful
covered in the dirt
of your past, yet
so pure of heart
My Beautiful Petal
how I wish to keep you safe
from bees and predators
winter and fall
keep you by my side
in my pocket, with
me forever
but you need the sun
and the dirt to live
I hold you close to shield
you from the world
but I watch in horror
as I watch time pass
and you do not last
wrinkled, rough, dark
dreary, faded, brown
I hoped to keep you pure
but we all get too dirty,
shrivel up, and die
