They say hope is a blessing
To help get through tough times
That hope is an extravagant place
That lifts you high above
They say hope is all you need
To get through a bad day
But what happens when that hope
Is suddenly taken away?
All the pain the hope once masked
Surfaced to the top
Reality burning with a crash
A smack across the face
Screams and cries
That can no longer be held in
Break free with a bang
Shaking the world
They say hope is a bird
With feathered wings flying high
A bird who sings a melody
And carries you so effortlessly
Hope; a bird flying through the sky
Hope is a blessing and a curse
Because even the bird that soars
Will eventually die
Hope will no longer ease the pain
Hope is a beautifully tragic thing
It lifts you up, so you can fall
Hope can't get you through it all
