"COME ON GUYS! The countdown is starting." Hakeem shouted. Jamal had taken Hakeem and Corisande to Times Square to see the ball drop. They had secured a spot on a nearby roof and it was just the three of them in the corner.

"Not you little dude." Cori blushed. Hakeem was constantly flirting with her.
Hakeem shrugged and looked at Jamal. "I ain't kissing you. I love you and all but I'ma go find a babe real quick." Hakeem rushed back inside the house to the party.
Jamal chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Don't worry about him. He's being a kid. A dumb fourteen year old"
"Yeah a kid that will grow up to be a heart-breaker...so how did you like your birthday gift?" Cori looked at the skyline, which was filled with lights and people dancing, getting drunk.
"It was amazing...I use it everyday...When I finish with the song I'm writing, you'll be the first to hear it. By the way, where did you get the money to buy that? It's really expensive." Jamal eyed her concerned.
"It's a gift Jamal...I wanted you to have it. Trust me, this will help you in the long run." Cori eyed him. "So what are your resolutions?"
Jamal sighed. "Well first, to be a better brother to Hakeem and Andre. Second, to be braver and not care what people say. And third, to put everything in my music. Yours?"
