Today, 3 to 6 years ago, in another universe, Matt; Mail Jeevas; was shot down to the ground by the Japanese Police due to their belief in Kira, their God. The 'sin' he committed had the penalty of death in their eyes and so did not hesitate to kill on sight, as they would have if he'd simply stolen a game from a shop shelf, or murdered an innocent person... Like he was.
But this isn't about them. This is about him.
He grew up in what I see as one of the most tragic ways possible. Without a family by his side, for how long we will never know. We can only imagine.
Though, he strived through it. He persisted, he must have to have lived through the hell of Kira's reign.
But he didn't quite make it to the end.
He died without name, nor remembrance from that universe as far as we know, so I've tried to create someone for him to have and to hold, a parallel of me, as much as I can. Though, no matter how hard we try, we can't change the future, nor can we change the past.
So all we can do is wish him well, along with his best friend, Mello, and hope, wherever they are, that they are happy, be it heaven or hell, or somewhere in between.
