Hospital Visits with A Moody Teenager

When we get back up to the room Brandon is pacing.

"What's wrong with you?" I ask confused.

"Huh? Nothing. I'm just anxious."

"Alexis, you need to eat." Ryder says to me handing me my food. I sit down with it and just frown at it.

"Alexis, eat your food, starving yourself won't help him." Ryder insists. I force the food down my throat slowly. Brandon soon falls asleep and a few minutes later Ryder leaves to take a call.

"Lex? What're you doing here?" A scratchy voice asks. My head jerks up and I see Mikey squinting at me and struggling to sit up.

"Don't you dare move Michael Kaleb Oxford." I order him.

"Why are you so angry?"

"Not angry doofus, I'm relieved, you've been unconscious for over two days now, the doctor needs to check you out." I say pushing the button beside his bed. I walk over to where Brandon is asleep and shake him until he wakes up.

"Mikey's up, I just buzzed the nurse." I say to him.

"Am I dreaming?" He asks.

"No idiot." Mikey croaks.

"Quit talking Mikey." I say to him.

"Why?" He asks causing him to cough.

"Because I told you to." I glare at him. He opens his mouth but quickly closes it again.

"Do you want something? Water? Food?" Brandon asks him.

"Not until after the doctors check him out Brandon." I scold him.

"You know a lot about this huh." Brandon says.

"Yes I do." I nod curtly as two nurses come inside followed by a doctor then Ryder.

"What's going on?" Ryder asks me.

"Mikey's up." I smile.

"Alright, awesome, we'll have to leave soon though." Ryder says.

"Why?" I ask.

"We want to be back in our neighborhood before rush hour starts or we won't make it home in time."

"Okay fine. But can we stay until the doctor tells us what's up with Mikey?"

"Yes." He nods. The doctor and nurses start running a bunch of tests on Michael.

"Lex, if we don't leave now, we'll get stuck in traffic." Ryder whispers to me almost half an hour later.

"Mikey, I have to go now." I tell him.

"Alright, I'll see you soon right?"

"Of course, I'll be back as soon as I can. But one thing."

"What?"

"Don't ever scare me like that again." I say.

"I'll try." He chuckles.

"Brandon keep me updated, Ryder and I are off."

"Bye Lex." Michael and Brandon say together.

"Adios my baby bunnies." I say.

"We're older than you Lexi." Brandon says just as Mikey says:

"Later momma bunny."

"We've been through this already Mover Boy." I wink and walk out. Ryder follows behind me.

"Baby bunnies?"

"I started calling them that a while ago." I shrug.

"But why?"
