Chapter 28

"Get ready" Jake told Edward
"They're not gonna touch her" Edward replied
"Agreed" Jake responded
They both did this weird bro nod
"Man I can smell them from all the way out here" Leah said coming out the bushes
"What the hell Leah" I yelled
"What the hell are you doing here?" Jake yelled
"I'm not gonna let my little brother get himself killed" She said
"Go away Leah I could take care of myself!" Seth defended
"That you think so proves you need a babysitter" Leah said
"Jeez both of you shut up" I yelled
"okay would the both of you shut up" Jake said at the same time as I spoke
"Did Sam send you?" Jake asked
"Sam doesn't even know I left" Leah said
We heard howls and I looked at her
"Well now he does" I said
"I think he just figured it out" Seth added
"I'm gonna call Emily and see if she could talk some sense into him" I said
I walked back into the house and called Emily hearing it ring and hearing her
"Nova?! Are you okay?! What is going on?! Sam is freaking out!" She cried
"Bella's pregnant and he wants to kill her. We don't know what the fetus is capable of yet but you need to talk him out of it!" I said
"I tried. As soon as I heard you and Jake left I told him he couldn't fight against someone he sees as his daughter and he said he had to do what's right. Nova i'm scared of his plans. Embry has been messed up since you left" Emily said
"I know and I have to make it worst" I said
"What do you mean?" Emily asked
"I want you to give him his wedding ring back" I said softly
"Nova..." Emily started
"Look if he's on Sams side and couldn't leave with me there's no point of us. He didn't stand up for me so it's over" I said knowing Embry was in the house with her
"So you're just gonna break up with him?!" She yelled
"Yes. I don't wanna be with him anymore" I said nonchalant
"What are you gonna do?" She asked
"I'll give the ring to Kim tell Jared to get it from her" I said and hung up

I came back from Kim's place and cut my thoughts off from the pack. I kept thinking how I hated Embry when I gave the ring to Kim hoping my sadness wouldn't show. I sat in the living room with Emmet hugging him sadly. I looked at Jake before hearing Embrys sad howl in the woods
"I guess he got the ring back" I said
"Okay now back to the meeting" Jake said
"Right go ahead Jake" I replied
"Sams lost the element of surprise and he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered." Jake said
"So he's not gonna come at you head on" I added
"He's got this place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity." Jake finished
"We won't get through without a fight" Emmet said holding me close
"No fights. We won't be the ones to break the treaty" Carlisle said
"The treaty is void at least in Sams mind" Jake said
"Not in ours" I said
"Carlisle no one's hunted for weeks" Emmet said
"We'll make due" Esme said
"You've done us a great service Jacob. Thank you" Carlisle said
They nodded and I looked outside

The night came and I felt the packs presence surrounding the house. I looked at Jake with sad eyes as he smiled softly as Leah walked up to us both
"I know they're out there somewhere but I can't hear them anymore." Jake said
"It's so quiet" I said
"Nova you could go inside and shower and relax. I know this isn't easy on you" Jake said
"Are you sure" I asked
They both nodded and I walked inside and took a shower and went down to the piano. Everyone else was surrounding the house. I knew Embry could hear me

I played the piano as I sang the song. As I sang it I looked up and I could see Embrys eyes in the forest. They looked sad. As I finished playing the song I felt a cold chill down my spine as I saw Alice and Jasper come in and sit down next to me
"You know you could go back to the pack. I see how sad being against your husband makes you and we would never force you to stay here. We want you to be happy" He said holding me softly
"It's not right Jasper. They can't kill her if I could just use my powers to see the fetus mind and see what it is. I could show them Bella's no harm. Or if I could see the future like Alice" I said sadly
"What if you could" Alice said
"How?" I asked
"You were able to unblock the packs thoughts and read their minds rigth?" Alice asked
"Yea but how will that help?" I asked
"What if you were able to unblock Bella's mind with the fetus long enough for Alice to see their future" He asked
"Jasper I think the hunger is getting to your head" I said
"I don't know how to explain it but it's what I said" Jasper said smiling
"Would it work?" I asked
"I don't know but it can't hurt to try" Alice said
"But what if Alice sees something bad and the pack was right and it's dangerous?" I said
"Then Bella will see that and hopefully change her mind" He said
"Okay but I need strength cause my powers and pretty much worn out from my outburst the other day" I said
"It'll take a couple of days so hopefully we could hold the pack off till then and yea I saw what happened to Embry" Jasper said
"I know I hate that I hurt him" I said
"You didn't mean to and you told him not to touch you" Alice hugged me
