CHAPTER 18 : NOT EVEN CLOSE

SYDNEY P.O.V

Why that freak keep staring at me? Is there something on my face. Or does he ever seen a woman before.

"Sydney darling"

Mom's voice snapped me out from that void of questions as she look at me in confuse. "Are you all right?"

Everyone had their eyes on me caused me slightly embarrassed.

"Yeah.....um, I mean, What did I miss?"

"Your daughter is such an interesting character" Mr Conrad chuckled.

I awkwardly gave him a smile. "Her personality most probably get from my wife" my father added.

'Sugarcoating him? Seriously!' I thought myself.

I keep my silent didn't intervene on their conversation. As usual that blue eyed freak didn't avert his gaze from me. Damn! he's a pervert.

"So, shall we fix the date for their marriage? Any date of your chioce, Mr Conrad"

"What!?" I slapped my mouth. Oh shit.

Once again, I drew their attention.

"I mean.... this is just an arrange marriage right? Why we need to hold a banquet?"

My father obviously looking displease on what I just said. He stared at Mr Conrad in nervous, "I'm sorry for my daughter's rude behavior. I'll make sure she....."

"She's right"

I heard his icy cold voice and made me focus at him. Darryl eyes never left mine as he opened his mouth, "This marriage is solely for our mutual business partnership. If the terms of our contract get expose to the public it would be a fatal blow to both of our business"

I scrunch my eyebrows and he glance at my father, "And it's the best if we just stick to it"

Did he just shut off my father. Kudos to him.

"But...."

"I think that's reasonable" Mr Conrad agreed to his son's thoughtful statement.

"Mr. Maynard, I'm pretty sure my son's decision was right. Why don't we just follow his words?"

Phew. That's what I need. Who cares about this marriage anyways. All I have to do is just sign that damn contact and return back to my normal life.

"I diagree"

My jaw dropped when heard my mom's objection.

"As much I want to agree to Darryl's proposal I do remind you that I have a daughter. We should ask her concern first" my mom ended and smiled at me.

'She's really taking serious on my marriage'

Mr Conrad stared at me, "Well then, what would be your opinion Sydney? You can share with us. My son wouldn't mind about it"

Everyone awaits for my answer. What they wanted me to say? Of course, there would be 'no' word in this room for me. Hate to say but both father and son duo were on my favor.

Taking a deep breath, I made the decision. "I agree"

"It's settle then"

Valerie who hasn't been into the conversation finally let her voice out. More like she's happier which seriously made me feel suspicious on that.
