Chapter 111 - Block B: Battle!

Start from the beginning

"Before Marineford?" I asked, to which he nodded vigorously.

"H-He's with the Blackbeard Pirates!" someone behind us cried.

"What the hell are those guys doin' competin' in this fight?" Another said, more disgusted than scared.

'No wonder he hasn't even been touched...'

The crowd started cheering his name, but strangely, all I could think about now was why he was here, and what that smell of smoke was.

I walked backward slightly as Burgess left and the medics arrived, the smell of smoke growing stronger, and hearing a faint voice around the corner.

"It'll be trouble if one of these guys wins the Flame Flame fruit..." A voice said, sounding as if through a radio or Transponder snail, as I continued down a corridor, using Observation Haki to conceal my presence.

"Burgess shocked the hell out of me, too," A voice that wasn't on the transponder snail spoke, his voice ragged.

"Same here, I'll talk to Issho right away." [Snail Voice]

The man was at the end of the dark corridor, in a small room that three hallways connected to, all darkened the same as mine. Just before the hallway turned into a room, I leaned on the corner, just inside the hallway, to listen, until I jumped at a loud voice.

"What's all this about?" A voice taunted with a cocky tone, "Whatcha doin', buddy? Talking to yourself?"

I put my hand on the wall, making a small piece of wood. It traveled through the wall and to the corner I could see, acting as a security camera. I watched through that, flickering back and forth between the wood and the hallway so as to not get caught.

"Now hang on a minute," The garish and cocky man with large platinum blonde hair leaned an arm on the wall and pointed to the man who was smoking the cigarette, writing on a clipboard, "You ain't communicating with someone on the outside, are ya, pal? 'Cause that would be fishy!"

I moved the eye visor on the helmet up since it was hard to see and glanced down the hallway I came from. There were a few turns, so It might be too late if someone saw me, but I kept watching anyway, going back to the small piece of wood.

"I'm right, aren't I?" The blonde asked, moving closer to the shady man, pointing with both hands, "And hey, what's that you're writing down there?"

Some clothes rustled, the shady man covering himself with his cloak more, "I heard you sayin' the names of the hottest pirates around!"

'So he must be undercover... I wonder if he scouted Luffy or me out yet?'

"Gambia? The Missionary? Right here! That's me!" The blonde man leaned over the already tall shady man, "So what exactly are 'ya up to?"

The shady man stayed silent.

"Aha! Can't say?" Gambia laughed, before his tone went slightly more serious, "Let me take a guess here. You're not with the Nav–"

I covered my mouth so as to not react as the shady man pushed Gambia against the wall, his hand pushing his chin up, a hatchet pressing against Gambia's neck.

"Sir? Is everything okay?" The transponder snail asked.

"Everything's fine." The shady man spoke, sounding slightly annoyed, "Gimmie 10 and I'll call you back."

"Yes, sir. Roger that." [transponder snail]

There was silence, with only the muffled whimpers of Gambia echoing through the room as I watched a trail of blood trickle down his neck.
