Chapter 47

"Noo, stop it!"

"Oh come on, just one"

"Out!" I pushed him out of the kitchen

Soo....I had to make a little sacrifice and skip work today and Eric also made the sacrifice to stay home today...well I made him make the sacrifice but he made it either way

I skipped work and now I'm at his house.... cooking

He didn't actually invite me over to cook but I just decided to but he won't leave me alone to do my thing, he's been bothering me and eating the food before it's ready

"Please let me concentrate" he still didn't want to leave!

"You made me stay home, you're not going to abandon me and stay in the kitchen...so come on let's go"

"Let's go where....hey!" He picks me up bridal style and takes me out of the kitchen

I let out a sigh and just waited for him to put me down on couch

"You done?" I was finally seated

He sits beside me with a smile on my face

"You'll starve if my food burns"

He shrugged "I'm not that hungry" he moves closer to me

I looked at him with a raised brow "stay away"

"Should I, should I really?"

"Yes you should"

"We both know you love having me close to you" he smirks as he placed a hand on my knee

"That's a lie" I scoff

That is true though

"Is it?"

I stare at him for a while "I hate you"

He leans closer to me "well I love you"

I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out

I just ended up chuckling since I ran out of words. I leaned in to kiss him and he immediately gave in to it

We slowly pulled away "okay, I don't hate you that much"

He chuckled and I stood up to go check on my food

I'm not letting my hard work go to waste

"I feel like you're not being completely honest with me" Eric said

I looked up from my food and frowned at him

"How do you mean?"

We were seated on his dinning because apparently that was how he was raised to eat

"Well...." He puts his spoon down

"Are you comfortable with my dad?" He suddenly asked

Okay...."why would you ask that, of course I am" I may not be comfortable but I like him

"Really?" He asked and I nod

Then he asked "and my mum?"

I paused where I was and looked up at him

"You're not are you?" He said

"Eric...I can't lie to you, your mum doesn't like me and you know that, if you didn't you'd tell her about us but you can't because you know she doesn't like me"

He sighed "I didn't tell her about us because she's obsessed with me being with Theresa, not because I feel she dislikes you" he explained

"She does, I know when people don't like me, I have a lot of them" I said to him

"It's because she doesn't know you Courtney"

I shook my head "it goes way beyond not knowing me, it's because we're not of the same social class"

He sighs "let's really not bring that up"

I shrug "but it's the truth"

"Yeah well I don't care, social class isn't everything"

Thank God for that

"Let's just forget about it please, I like your dad....I think that's okay for me"

He nods and continues eating. I know he felt bad about how I thought of his mum...but that woman hates me and there's nothing I can do about it

So it was currently 7pm and I was already home. I left Eric's place 5-ish and arrives home 6-ish

So much ish

I had even forgotten and it was when I got home that Sophia reminder me that my shop rent was about to expire. I've been in that shop for over 4 months now and this was the first time I already had my rent saved up, I received my money from Brittany and Chloe through Gloria and I also spoke to them too and they love their outfits

While Sophia was preparing dinner, I was having my bath. After, I got dressed and just fell flat on my bed

Just when I was about to fall asleep, I heard my phone ringing

I hesitantly picked it up

"Hello?"

"Courtney good evening, it's the shop owner"

I sat up "oh, good evening ma'am"

"How're you?"

"I'm fine thank you"

Weird... why's she calling?

"It's about your shop rent"

I raised my brows "oh yes...I have the money already so should I just transfer it now or..."

She cuts in "I just wanted to let you know that the price has been raised?"

Has been what? "I'm sorry what?"

"It's been raised" she repeated

"I know I heard you, I just don't understand why" why!?

"Well that's one of my best shops and I've been renting it out too cheap"

I pinched my nose bridge before asking "okay, increased to how much?"

"Nothing much, just 20,000 dollars?"

I pulled the phone from my ear and looked at the screen to be sure I was talking to the right person

"Excuse me?"

"That's it" she bluntly said

"How can that be it. Who increase a shop rent just like that without warning?"

She sighed "it was a prompt decision"

"I'm sorry but I don't have that kind of money. How the hell does something increase from 1,500 dollars to 20,000 dollars?"

"No need for long talk Courtney, it's been raised and I don't accept part payment only full"

"And if I can't meet up to that?"

"Then I'm sorry you'd have to pack out"
