Fighting for the impossibility

Christine Summer

Paint me a sky so blue,

Not bluer than what I feel for you,

For you’ve gone and left me to rue,

That I did not fight for you.

‘Tis true that I still dream,

But not as calm as a stream,

As it flows, shining in its gleam,

Like the shiny sparkle on a river’s rim.

I would have fought a thousand wars,

Just to scrape away all of my scars,

That I bore each time you come so far,

Away from me, turn my hope to mar.

I’m swallowed with every wave,

As I swam like a chained slave,

Towards you, in a darkened cave,

Full of courage that I will save.

You fought and struggled to break free,

With every grasp you pushed me,

Towards the edge, there is no pity,

For someone like me whom you wanted to flee.

Every step I take, you took another back,

To be further discriminated by what I lack,

Every word I’m on the rack,

Hear me scream that I wanted you back.

Now paint me a sky of gray,

As I sullenly go through every day,

With every thought of you at bay,

How much I wanted you back I wouldn’t say.

I would have fought for him. I would have; he’s just not giving me enough credit to do so. I wanted him back, I still do.

Christine.
