If I asked you

If I asked you.

Christine Summer

I knew I’m not perfect,

Whoever said I was?

All my lyrics are incorrect,

Why am I stuck in the past?

The things I wouldn’t dare to say,

Why do you know they weren’t real?

A perfect day turned gray,

Who told you I couldn’t feel?

Maybe I was wrong, I always am,

When did you even bother?

Never compare me to any of them,

Why did my heart just flutter?

I was sorry but I don’t regret it,

Who told you when to judge?

I forgave but I wouldn’t forget it,

Why wouldn’t you even budge?

I’m okay with pretensions,

Who are you to tell me not to?

Just admit it, in compensation,

Why not tell me you feel the same way, too?

If I was smarter I would have walked away,

Why do you shatter all my resolutions to dust?

But I’m not foolish enough to stay,

Why do you move on so fast?

Enough was enough; all has been said,

When are you going to realize?

It was over and done with; my patience has been fed,

When are you going to be nice?

Spare me the benefit of the doubt,

How can you even subject me to sadness?

I’d rather not hear it from your filthy mouth,

How do you make me such a mess?

Questions that I wouldn’t dare to ask him.

Christine.
