— MY THROAT FELT HEAVY   AND MY SALVIA RAN THICK

Me and Dallas didn't stop running until we knew we were far away enough. It made me reminisce about the time me and Dally ran from the cops after vandalising a wall underneath a bridge— I believe one of the only occasions we really got to know each other.

As I panted, my hands on my knees and my back hunched over, I remembered I forgot something. My car.

I immediately stood up and straight and began to speed walk back in the direction of the party, panicked that the car was gone or maybe even used as a getaway car from the cops by some random drunk teenagers.

"Hey! what are ya' doin'?!" Dally called out to me, angry that I was going somewhere I shouldn't. I knew that I was walking into danger, but I paid for that car myself. It was my pride, being a greaser with a thunderbird. I refused to let it go.

"Going to get my car! I forgot it outside of the party and it could be stolen by now!" I yelled back at him, still speed walking down the street. I could hear Dally's loud footsteps trailing behind me, the heels of his boot crunching a piece of gravel every now and again.

"So then what's the point? listen we can just go back and get it tomorrow, can't we?"

"No! because what if it's gone tomorrow?! I'm sorry Dal but I have to go back. You can leave me if you'd like." I ranted, picking up my pace— making my legs ache more than they already were.
